Real-world MPG of Small Trucks?

If you're looking for mileage, stick with the manual and 4 cylinder. I have many customers with Z71 V-8's getting the same mileage as the small trucks with auto/V-6.

My 1996 C1500 with a V6 and 5 speed had 25MPG as a average.

My 2000 Silverado 4.8l V8, 5speed 4x4 extended cab averaged over 21 mpg when I owned it.

MY moms 2002 Silverado (same as above but a auto) averages 20 mpg.

The last small truck I had was a 1982 SR5 toyota and it got in the low 20s. Its still getting that with over 250k on the clock, but no way is it anything like the Silverados or C1500 for use as a truck.

Take care, bill

i've had several 4 cylinder 5 speed rangers and they all seemed to get mid to upper 20's consistently. pretty good little truck too, by the way.

02 ranger 4x4 4.0Litre it was decently for a small truck..mid 16's quarter mile. However gas mileage never saw 20+

usually 18-19 summer 16-17 winter

My 06 Ranger XL 2.3/5spd gets 25 city and anywhere from 27 to 29 on the highway. The topper kills mileage a bit. It's been getting better lately, actually I should say more consistent, since the 18-19k mark not for sure why exactly.
