Alcoholism is a terrible disease that reeks havoc on many people from all walks of life. I wish Randy and his family well.

To think he was the darling of the country crowd at one time (like Billy Ray Cyrus).

I worked in a treatment center and met many nice people. Some famous. Many just good people with a problem. My grandfather had a tavern and my father spent most weekends in one, so maybe I am biased.

I liked Eljefino's picture. Reminds me of the time I drove a tricycle down a large hill in the main street of town. I found out that a tricycle does not have brakes.....

Yeah, alcoholism sucks big time and it seems to have crept up on Randy. The last two years haven't been too good for him (divorce).

This isn't too terribly uncommon for country stars who fall out of the limelight though. George Jones got his DWI on a lawnmower. Someone else, I can't remember who, threw a liquor bottle out the window of his Lincoln...with the window up.

Life throws a lot of problems at everyone. Those with good character pick themselves up, dust themselves off and move on. Those with poor character turn to drugs or alcohol as a crutch, and never manage to effectively deal with life's challenges.

The fact that the guy didn't learn anything from his earlier incident shows an incredible lack of common sense, and I certainly won't waste any pity on knuckle draggers such as him.

I love the headline of the story to sensationalize.

"Randy Travis accused of threatening to kill troopers."

The first thing you think is it was some serious death threat or something, but it was just a drunk in back of a police car.

"Travis was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and retaliation. He was booked into the Grayson County Jail with bond set at $21,500."

I don't think addiction is necessarily a mark of character. One thing I am sure of- I am glad my struggles are not with addiction.

Agreed, it's easy for some to be judgmental about things they know nothing about though.

I thought he was a mild mannered guy. Didnt Peggy Hill almost kill him in his trailer?

If every drunk that was picked up and threatened the cops was charged with uttering threats, every impaired driver would be locked up, rather than just having a license suspension.
