Anybody used/using Rain-X blades from Walmart? I'am wondering about quality and longevity. Looking for opinions from folks who have actually used them.

I have used the cheapest blades I can get for years. I did test one expensive blade years ago and one 3 dollar blade and both performed well. I do use the rain x windshield fluid that makes water bead up and blow off and I hve found this works best on the road where I live most of the time. IMHO, those 15 dollar blades are just not worth it, but if u have the money, go for it, just remember, dont let marketiing sell u the sizzle when u have no idea what the steak will taste like.

I was woefully unimpressed. As a comparison, all of the beam style blades I have used other than the GM OEM ones did not wipe as well as I would have liked. So maybe they are fine in other applications, but I wont buy them again.

For what it's worth, yesterday I was in our local O'Reilly picking up a case of M1 and got into a nice discussion with the manager about Group III vs. Group IV. He was surprisingly knowledgeable. Almost as an afterthought, I asked him if he had any wipers on sale. He said, "Yes, Rain-X are $3 off. But they're [censored]. Buy the regular Ancos and I'll give you the same deal." So, I did and he did.

Here's a tip for extending the life of your windshield wipers. Use a rubber protectorate, Like Meguiers Plastic Protectorant. It will extend the life and can even fix worn out wipers.

Do not do that. My father worked in the wiper division of Bosch for 25 years and they had independent tests done that showed those types of coatings interfered with smooth wiper operation.

Most of the cheap blades perform the same. I spend the extra bucks on good wipers because it's a safety item.

I have been using the Rain-X blades since they first came out and have had excellent results with them. The set that is on my wife's Element are going on three years old and they still work just fine.

Although I haven't tried other types of Rain-X conventional wiper blades, I can't speek for them. I myself, wouldn't consider the Rain-X WeatherBeater blades as they are just another conventional blade design with the "pressure points" in the metal housing/holder. Even if the rubber blade itself were something special, I want better still!

I bought the Rain-X Latitude and Repel's beam style wiper blades last fall(Sept/Oct) prior to winter for 3 vehicles and loved them on all vehicles. Introduced others to them and their reviews are the same as mine. So, in my circle of family/friends, we have a variety of vehicles using them with good/great succuss. SUV's, Mini-Vans, Sedans, Coupes etc.
Different angles of windshields as well as many lengths of wiper blades...17"-28" and all are working well.

I bought the Rain-X over other beam style wiper blades due to their price at that time as I beleive beam style wiper blades work better than most other types especially in sub zero temps.

The Latitudes and Repels are the same beam wiper blades according to the Tech Service 1-800 that I spoke with. I was told that they're just marketed differently.

CR Mag rated the tested Latitudes very high, maybe #1 but, IDK, compared to Valeo, Bosch Icon etc. Other online reviews and articles that I read prior to buying, rated them very good as well. No wiper blade is perfect as they can all streak when debris collects along the wiper edge. Kept clean, they work flawlessly IMHO! And their quiet/smooth.

I bought them for about $10 each when they were on sale along with store coupons and rebates(PB's/AAP).

Any cheap wiper blade IMHO, works well in warmer temps(Spring/Summer) but, when the temps drop and there is snow/ice road salt along with nearing zero temps, this is where I have always had issues with wipers including the more expensive blades. I have tried dedicated winter wiper blades from Anco/Trico, installing them just prior to winter and I was still dissapointed in them as winter was ending.

Bosch Micro Edge Excel's worked quite well but not nearly as well as the new "beam style blades".

I'm older now and quite a bit fussier than when I was young with better eyes and at night. These newer style "beam" seem to be the best for me although I have read from others, a totaly different review. I think it depends on the vehicle.

The Rain-X Weatherbeater blades I have on the vehicle in my signature streak a lot if there isn't enough water on the windshield. I haven't driven in the rain in a while so I don't remember how well they do. I use the Rain-X "Bug Remover" windshield washer fluid.

I've used the Rain-X latitude and liked them a lot. They push the water off with way less instances of streaking then conventional blades. Yes they are pricey but you can generally get a good deal on them or other similar products (BOSCH Icon, Aneos ???, etc.) I got a set of BOSH Icon's that were $22 a piece for only $22 last month because of a BOGO from O'reillys.

When I used the Rain-X Latitudes it was in Cuba, on my old Ram and on my mom's Sebring. In Cuba we top 75 everyday of the year and hit 100s at least 3 months of the year and I've not had a set dry out and crack which impresses me greatly. The way I see it, its no different then a $40 oil change that you do once a year.

What I run into down here in South Texas is the sun frying them every year. Seems no matter what brand I buy they all only last about 14 months. I've been using ANCO and they seem to be fine.

Side note - was a crew chief on the big jets in the Air Force and even back in the mid seventies we were putting "rain-x" on the aircraft windshields. Worked great! Anything over 90mph or so and the wipers are useless, the pilots just turn them off and let the treatment do it's thing.
