R.I.P. Gaylord Perry

For those who are old enough to remember Gaylord Perry who passed away at the age of 84.. Growing up during the 70's, Gaylord was one of my favorite ball players while playing for the Cleveland Indians.

When I was young, I read his book, Me and the Spitter. I was surprised to find someone so truthful about what they'd done. I don't think athletes now would write like that.

And I do recall seeing him with a big smirk on his face, talk about (since he is in the HOF) that America is a forgiving country, and that the home run hitters from the steroid era would eventually get in. Not sure I want to see that happen, but I thought it was kind of funny for him to make that argument.

It’s a shame I never heard a word of his passing. He was a great player. I love baseball and have watched many old clips of him.
