I just want to apologize to this board. I'm Qwerty and trying to get some help for my obvious alcohol problem. The VA has me on a list for detox and treatment. I got into a car accident and I'm in a lot of legal trouble. I made jokes in the past about drinking/driving and now suffering the consequences.

Yes...you did make jokes about it and just about everyone here told you that you had some issues with your drinking AND attitude about driving while intoxicated. It was sad and shameful.

It doesn't help that you seem to focus on negativity with regard to authority.

I hope you actually mean what you say. Your life is in a shambles because of an addiction. Get yourself squared away or your life will be over (and/or you may harm somebody that is completely innocent).

I wish you the best and am happy you're getting help, although it's sad that it got to this point...

Yeah bud, they weren't funny! A $20 cab ride or a couple of bucks for a bus would have saved you thousand$$$$. I pray to God you didn't hurt some one, though if your state is anything like NY and if you did you'd probably be in the clink....

Nick, I caused a fairly serious accident involving 2 other cars. I had to take a blood draw at the hospital and was a .25 BAC. They were injured but left the hospital. I was also injured but was handcuffed to my medical bed.

No, I live in Chicago and they are pretty lenient with traffic issues.

I've been sober for the last 27 years and I can appreciate where you are coming from, Qwerty. I wish you the best. Once you get there, you'll see how much better life is.

I sure hope so. I'm clearly a danger to the community when I start drinking. I just can't stop. I'm out on a 10,000 bond. My ex girlfriend had to post 1,000. I may have injured someone and feel horrible.

Yeah, um, I don't know if anyone is "lenient" when it comes to drunk driving anymore. They good news is that you didn't kill anyone and if it's your first offense maybe you'll get a bit of mercy...

"Feeling" horrible is a poor excuse. You could very easily have killed them.

Sorry, but I have no tolerance for the injury or taking of innocent life caused from an action that could have been prevented. At least you SEEM to realize the serious nature of your addiction. I feel very sorry for the people you've injured.

I assume my car insurance will cancel me? Although I won't have a drivers license for a long, long time.

He was a 50 year man on his way to work at 5AM. I pray that he is okay. I think I'm I'm pretty screwed as to the DUI issue.

Sadly, it's my 3rd DUI offense and I may have to serve prison time. I'm not the criminal type and very scared about the outcome.

Addiction is a disease.. I wish you luck and hope you get the help you need. I have seen this destroy some good people and it's not a joke..
Try to really make it work and get a really good Lawyer someone with connections to your court and hope for the best. Good luck

You have been stroked and coddled on this forum by many well meaning people in your many different iterations. I felt pity and sorrow for you for a while. After sending two innocent people to the hospital, I have now came to the conclusion that you're a menace to society, and need some serious incarceration time.

Until you go to prison, get yourself into a 12 step AA program and start working the steps. Each step is lengthy and difficult if you are serious about the program, and they work well. Good luck with your prison time, not to be harsh, but the truth is you deserve it.

3RD DWI, now you injured someone- I do not feel sorry for you. You need to be punished by the courts.
Don't get me wrong, addiction IS a disease, and I hope you get the help you need, but it's also time to accept the responsibility for your actions. You have joked about drinking and driving, and not taken it seriously, even after 2 offenses. You need help, and probably will not get it unless it is forced on you through incarceration. I have a family member who had an addiction, and incarceration is what saved his life. Good luck.

I wonder if BITOG will get subpoenaed for his prior postings. Well, I am glad I am NOT a moderator here!!

By the way, how come some of you immediately knew who the OP was even after he came here in different incarnation?

And how come this guy was still drunk yesterday when he went on tirade against moderators? Was that before or after the accident?

My sister was killed by a drunk driver many years ago...whether he is trolling or telling the truth, the OPer can go sod off.
My parents were bitter, sad people for the rest of their lives after my sister died horribly, all because of some drunk loser.
