Questions on Amsoil

Q1 not really but they do have a close relationship with Lubrizol
Q2 they do it themselves quite a bit as they have their own facility

No written proof. My two sources(one the largest/oldest Amsoil dealers in MN and Amatuzio family friend) say they primarily use Mobil, Lubrizol, and Petro Canada base stocks. Again, only word of mouth with no "proof". I have visited Amsoil HQ in the past and I have seen blending in action.

Isn't that suncor. And isn't that oil sands?

Amsoil uses Chevron, Exxon Mobil, Petro-Canada and several other suppliers. These basestocks are purchased to Amsoil's specifications. Amsoil buys additives from a variety of suppliers including Lubrizol and Afton.

Amsoil blends their own oils.

AMSOIL has the storage capability for about 1,000,000 gallons of base stock.
All of the oils/gear lubes are blended there, using one of the most advanced blending systems in the country.

As previously noted, they purchase base stocks and additive packages from a number of suppliers (all of whom are eager to do business). As a matter of interest to some, every incoming shipment of base stock (usually rail car) or additives is quarantined until a sample has been run through the lab. And yes, tanker cars have been returned to sender (usually only happens once to a vendor).
