This may not be the place to post this but I didn't see anywhere else to post it. I also need answers fast and this forum seems to get alot of traffic. The wifes 2000 malibu is running great but all the little things seem to be falling apart and I am sick of it. We are looking at the camry as a replacement maybe as soon as tomorrow. Is there any good and bad things I need to know about the 2007 camry? I also cannot decide between the 6 cyl or 4 cyl. I think we both like the se model but it is difficult finding a 4 cyl in it. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks....

I would get the 4 cyl if it's available. I will be in your part of the country on Sunday. Can't wait to see those 90+ degree days.

Let us know what you got.

Edmunds has an '07 in their long term test fleet.
This may be a good place for you to get started.

I just clicked here and correct if I'm wrong, but did the first paragraph say they got a 'tepid 25.1 mpg' in an I4 Camry? That's got to be a V6? Any idea anyone? Is that an I4 or V6 referenced in that 1st paragraph?

The Camry is an excellent car. I'm partial to V6's myself though.

They could get 30 mpg in a geo metro... dont worry about their fuel economy, they're testing the car, they're not gently accelerating or cruising, they're beating the ____ out of it.

Edmunds has a loaded LE V6 in their long-term fleet. I've been following their blogs on it quite closely and they seem to be most impressed by the engine/transmission for it's great performance and economy, but are most disappointed by the mediocre interior quality and unsupportive seats during long trips.

They are great cars and have good resale value. Either engine will be fine. The 4 cyl. is more economical (initial cost and mpg), and is very sturdy and will hold up to about anything.

tsmay51,
People that I know(family, friends, aquaintises), always come to me for advise when there in the market for a new car. Most were driving 5-6 year old Chevy, Ford, Chrysler V6's. All were having issues with their vehicles such as yourself. I always tell them to get a Camry 4 cylinder. And they always ask...Will the 4 be enough power? And I always tell the to test drive and answer that question for themselves. Most end up with the 4 and a few get the V6. They never have any real problems with the Camry and they drive them many more years than they ever drove their other cars and, without all of the headaches. My other choices were always Accord and Maxima. I have now put the Altima on the list. If the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan show good reliability over the years, they will make the list as well.

I4 Camry provides ample power and very good reliability (so does the Altima). If this is a long term car and you have extra $, get hybrid. More power & better MPG.
Here is a link to me asking about 07 Scion tC maintenance
http://theoildrop.server101.com/forums/s...page=3&vc=1

It shares the same i4 engine and has similar transmission to 07 Camry (different gear ratios for more torque).
(btw - Camry, Altima & Accord were my 1st choices, but I could not pass the deal on tC)

The V6 is the same engine as in Avalon and ES300, you will not have any problems with it either.

My daughter has an 05 Camry SE with the 4 cyl. It handles better than my 05 Camry XLE with the 3.0 V6. I think the new 07 V6 is closer to the MPG with the 4 cyl. than in the 05's.
My advise would be if drive hard get the V6. Because it you drive the 4 cyl hard it not going to get that great MPG that they are capable of doing. My Daugher's is proof. If not a get the 4 cyl. It will get great MPG if not drove hard, has ample power and long term maintenace should be less.

A friend bought a 4cyl Camry back in November. He is very disappointed. He had a 01 Maxima before that he gave to his daughter. He complains not only about the lack of power but the cornering. The suspension is so soft that the handling is terrible.

I have an 2003 Camry and My mother has a 2007 Camry. We have owned Toyota's since 1971. I worked at a Toyota dealership for about 6 weeks. So I feel really comfortable recomending a 2007 Camry. I disagree with the crowd on one thing and that is the hands down choice to get the 4 cylinder! My mother and i have 4 cylinder models and I love them both! I think the V6 though is a heck of a deal when you look at the combination of power, performance and fuel ecconomy. In EPA fuel rateing I think their is only 1-2 MPG difference between the V6 and 4 cylinder for the most part. Both engines are great engines but the V6 represents the latest and greatest direct injection technology.

In terms of trim level it all depends on what you want. If you do not need the fold down seating and like functional ground effects, firmer handleing and standard alloy wheels that are larger and come with Michlin rubber go for the SE!! If you need the fold down seats for cargo and do not need the sportier ride adn handleing and functional ground effects get a V6LE. You can option a LE up and down all day long. If you want the reclineing rear seats you need to get the XLE.

My 2003 has around 60,000 miles and it is as tight as the day I bought it. I did have to have a noisey tensioner replaced out of warranty but they good willed it for me. The tensioner was not bad in a performance point of view it just sqeaked when cold outside or upon start up. It was simply anoying.

OldMustangGuy, Have you friend check the quality of his tires! THe Camry has .82G worthof lateral acceleration grip. That is excellent for a 4 door family sedan he would have a cornary if he ever drove anything Buick has on the road in the form of a 4 door sedan. In fact it is close to or equal what a rear drive Mustang(non-specialty model)put down on paper. My Camry had horrable handleing until I got the cheap Goodyear tires that came with the car off and put on some decent rubber. Just so every knows I am not talking about handleing dynamics at this point just the skidpad numbers!

Well I actually located 3 se models with 4 cyl and they are all at the same dealer. Looks like we are leaning towards one of them. My wife has drove both 4 and 6 cyl. She is happy with the performance of the 4 cyl but really likes the cosmetics of the se opposed to the le. Luckily we found some ses with 4 cyl.

John put it in proper perpective.
I have a 97V6 Camry. It has been flawless since left the dealership new. It is great but not perfect.

As v6 vs I4... V6 is the driver's choice and I4 is the household. You pick your own. V6 is fun to drive and its power band is just amazing. One of the best engines Toyota has built IMO. That combined with the its tanny is just make theis car a bargain and thrill to drive. MPG of V6 is about 30 and 24 if properly maintained and driven. If one needs I4 I always think of Honda accord. Honda's 4 cyl are just a tad better than toyota's IMO.
Having said all that, there are recalls on tanny with its v6 engine and there are so maney other issues with 07 Camry models. You need to do a net search on that. I have read Toyota is buying back some of it new Camry's due to being unable to offer a fix. Just be aware of srious quality issue Toyota is having with this new Camry.
