Quaker State Synthetic Horse Power vs. Quaker State Torque Power - 4x4 & Truck?

What is the difference between the two? They are both the same price.

Does one have more additives than the other?

Just marketing? One label for truck owners, another label for sports coupe owners?

Is it nothing but Product Differentiation?
"The brand differences are usually minor; they can be merely a difference in packaging or an advertising theme. The physical product need not change, but it could. Differentiation is due to buyers perceiving a difference, hence causes of differentiation may be functional aspects of the product or service, how it is distributed and marketed, or who buys it."

I've read that regular Mobil1 is different from Mobil1 Truck & SUV oil as the regular Mobil1 has less additives. Maybe it's the same case here?

I actually emailed Quaker State about a month ago and asked them what the difference was.......... I too was curious. I have yet to receive a response from them.

I guess I could call them when I get the time.

the truck and 4x4 might, MIGHT have some extra antioxidants and a few more additives.

I do not know for sure. I am just going by what I know about other truck and SUV oils.

Either oil will work fine

The Horsepower blend is the latest from Quaker State. I believe the QTorquePower has been discontinued.

Maybe I should start running the Q horsepower in my riding lawn mower......... Then I can get the grass cut faster since I'll have a lot more horsepower! :) :)

it's shell oil with a prurty advertising. nothing special about it. buy lots you will need to change it often.

regardless of the differences I'm currently running the "Q" 5w30 in my 01 Durango and it appears to be a fine oil. No issues what so ever. Besides it's cheaper than Mobil 1.

Please forward all questions concerning any of Shell's line of lubricants to lazaro, he seems to be the expert on this company.

It is getting old with his "comments".

So much data and fact behind them..

If you check the sheets, the synthetic "Torque Power" oils have a much higher pour point than the "Horsepower" varieties (about -33C vs. -45C) which makes me think I'd rather stick to the HP version as is looks almost identical to PP on paper (or your monitor).

It looks like a good oil, and only $19.99 for five qts. (& an STP Filter even) at Autozone a nice bargain...

Looking at the June 2009 "GM Approved Engine Oils" QHorsepower has the 4718 designation while Q Torque does not (only 6094) (assuming Q Torque is the same as "Quaker State 4X4 and SUV Synthetic Blend").

Q-Torque is a full synthetic, making it different from the 4x4 and SUV syn-blend
