Today i went to the dealership to get service done on my 2011 Charger R/T. Tire rotation, new cabin filter, oil change for $35.00. I bring my own oil and filter most of the time its usually a Wix/NAPA Gold Filter with M1 or Valvoline/ NAPA synthetic. I forgot to bring it with me this morning because i had to take the kids to their day camp today. When I get there he tells me that the coupon i got does not include synthetic oil (Pennzoil Platinum) and its going to be $110.00 bucks all together because my car takes 7 qts. He takes me in the back and shows me that they don't use conventional 5w20 or keep it in stock due to the MDS in the new Eagle Hemis but use Quaker State Synthetic Blend for them since they went with SOPUS for the oil contract. He tells me that Quaker State is nothing more than Pennzoil with less detergent but more wear additives in their label. Im a little short on cash this week and tell him to do it. Has anyone had any experience with this oil and would like to hear other opinions.

Meets same mfg specs as your fancy (but not "real" synthetic oil). It should be be fine for a 5K-7k / 4 Month OCI if you dont absolutely beat on or race the car hard - there you shouldnt use any ILSAC oil

QS is a great oil. I think it is one of the best oils you can buy. It will do a fine job in your engine and you can use it with complete confidence.

Thnaks for the input! I really like hearing others opinions!!! I dont race or beat the vehicle 23 mile commute to work mix of highway and city driving, i dont race the car or beat her. usually 6000-7000 oci even the tho the owners manuel says 8500. I can't get with that.

That's plausible, but unless he was a formulator for SOPUS in his previous job, I wouldn't put much stock in it. PYB does have more moly and ZDDP than QS, at least according to the latest PQIA report on those oils. So, that's one strike against what he said.
