Just courious, there isn't a lot of talk on this board about QS motor oil. I haven't used it in a long time, recently used Pennzoil in one of my vehicles. Should I give the QS a look down the road or choose the Pennzoil?

Thanks

Good staight forward reply, I also think the MC is good oil. I use the MC 15w40 in my 7.3 Power Stroke. I guess the MC 5w30/10w30 is a great oil for gassers as well?

I've used QS and it seems to be a decent oil. However, i think better oils can be had for the same or less price. My unscientific rating system of the budget oils quality might put QS dino and Superflo dino about on par with each other with Havoline and TropArtic a notch above (and still cheaper in most cases than QS). I would have no problem using QS or SUperflo in my car, both are decent and do their job.

QS Semi-Synthetic/4x4 seems to be a decent oil as well and as far as value for the dollar goes, it might be a better value among the "blends" than regular QS dino is among the "dinos". Among the blends though it's still hard to find a better value than TropArtic (aka Motorcraft) if you can find it at Walmart. Walmart does carry the QS Blend in the 5 qt jug though, which is nice.

My Dads toyota dealer uses QS 5w30 Blend as their bulk oil and Dads Avalon seems to run fine on it, burn no oil, and the oil stays clean in appearance through the 5K oil change.

NOPE!

There is no patent. Just good marketing. All oils have additives in them that are activated by heat. They just coined the frase before anyone else did. Smart move on there part.

Just like Dodge Hemi (hemispherical combustion chamber design) (no offense to Dodge lovers/owners here), which has been used to symbolise muscle cars, QS so-called "heat activated technology" is just some slick marketing ploy to boost product sales.

No biggie, I just stay with my non-heat-activated-technology Shell Formula...*grin*

I've used this oil before in my wife's Expedition. It does what an oil is supposed to do; there's nothing sexy about it.

I would disagree. QS 4X4 is VERY sexy with her see-through bottle. You go girl!

The only reason I bought it is because K-Mart had it on a close-out shelf for 20 cents/qt. about a year ago. I bought the whole lot. I've still got three oil changes worth. We'll probably sell the Expedition before I use it all.
