Almost every single topic here has PYB mentioned in there as a good cleaning or just good all around motor oil. Is there ANY evidence and proof of this oil actually being better that let's say Mobil Super 5000 or Mobil Super High Mileage or any other conventional/synblend, or is this all just marketing hype because the bottle says that it cleans out the sludge and keeps the pistons cleaner???

And if any other conventional oil was the sponsor of BITOG, would PYB still be praised or would the praise move on to the new sponsor???

I'm not sure where the obsession of good cleaning oils come from. Yes, we don't want dirty engines, but using any of the modern popular oils and changing at reasonable interval, sludge formation would never be an issue unless you have a failed engine component or poor engine design that promotes oil breakdown.

I'm not an expert but given the feedback from a good number of members here and looking atbUAO of others and posts of underneath valve covers of others I think the consensus is that PYB is a good cleaning oil for the money and availability.

I know other oils are good at cleaning.

That PYB 10W30 is just amazing...their 5W30 had a 14.4% NOACK in the PQIA's testing, basically 3X higher. I know that people keep speculating on here that their 10W30 must be part synth...

+1 I do agree but my engines purr with Pennzoil versus the other oils I have tried.

Also, Wolf's head is an oil I used to use years ago when I was in highschool. Looks like a decent oil. Very well might become my go to beater oil again.

Their 5W20 is similar-NOACK of only 6.5%? That's going in the old 4.6 for sure! Now if they could only straighten out their warranty processor...

Doesn't this virtually eliminate the need for full synthetics as it relates to ~5k OCIS versus long or extended OCIs? Also too, I plan on going with PYB 10w30 after this PUP 5w30 runs its course (See sig...more then half way done)

I have to say i have used Pennzoil in most of my vehicles for years and have had no engine related problems.. I like Pennzoil the only problem with Pennzoil is their jugs leak from the caps because unlike Valvoline and most of the others they have no tamper proof inner seal. I don't know if it is the best engine oil but it worked well for me. There are a lot of good engine oils out there to choose from. I have a friend that uses Smittys super S in his shop and in his truck and that oil is about 1/2 the cost of pennzoil and he has over 200,000 on his ford 4.6..

Well, not for me since there's no way I'm going to leave 10W30 sitting out overnight in the White Mountains on ski trips and I'm also not running 5W20 in a turbo. The PYB 5W30 doesn't look nearly as impressive as the first two. If I lived down South, that 10W30 might look very tempting down the road...

Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of Pennzoil myself. My garage is currently stocked with PYB for my next series of oil changes. Low NOACK affected my final decision.

It's stopped my male pattern balding which for generations was believed to be genetic

There are a few reasons I love PYB:
1. It has a pretty good additive pack
2. It seems to be the quietest running oil I've used (in multiple engines)
3. I can find it pretty cheap at Wal-Mart
4. I've gotten very good UOAs using it

PYB was praised on her long before Pennzoil became a sponsor.

Yeah especially given the low NOACK on the PYB 10w30.

If it can REVERSE it, I'm buying 20 cases!
