Purolator must be hurting......

Good stuff.....

I do need to figure out who the Purolator marketing guy is here on BITOG so I can get in on some freebies.

He could also feed me some neat Purolator facts on Purolator superiority, like filtration efficiency and why the [censored] construction is really a plus.

There's not much to 'market' anymore for Purolator filters except for them to announce a change in their quality to extinguish the tearing issue. They refuse to do that ... oh well.

42 that we know of. How many of us have several sitting out in the garage that haven't been cut open? How many filters have been thrown away or recycled without anyone checking? (Rhetorical questions, of course).

Also - no KNOWN long term damage that any of us know of.

Scale it, and you'll be more realistic. You really think only failed filters fall only into the hands of BITOG members who cut open filters? ... LOL. This discussion has been covered many times.

I really hope you aren't serious.

i know but i get motorcrafts for $2.10 and they look so good on our newly rebuilt ford engines. We don't use them all the time but i do like them.. I did not see any tears in the motorcraft yet but i have a bunch i can cut open just to be sure..

Only 5% of the reported failures were Motorcraft - but does that mean less Motorcraft filters are being cut open, or they have less incidences of tearing, or what? Nobody knows.

I just thought you'd dropped Purolator manufactured filters for your business due to being risk averse and not wanting to take a chance reading your posts. I was just wondering why you had more confidence in Motorcraft - maybe you'd seen something else somewhere.

Too late now for deflection; we've already got your number.

Motorcraft filters are made by Purolator to Ford engineer's specifications. The efficiency is lower than a P1 or a Classic. The media may be totally different. I cut one open that had over 6,000 miles on it, and some of the time (2 oil changes) used a viscosity thicker than manufacturer spec and the pleats were in awesome shape with no trace of defect.

Great, you can bet it doesn't ring down at FRAM.

i still have a few cases of the motorcrafts the purolators which were group 7 we waere able to return for credit from my distributor because we buy a lot of filters and they did not want to lose us.

I miss the purolators i knew almost every number by heart what engine they fit. When i e mailed them i got absolutely nothing Back.

I quit using Purolator over the tearing issue.
I quit buying GM over their refusal/inability to fix the coolant smell/loss on my recently traded in Cruze.

If people continue to buy a substandard product the manufacturer will never raise their bar.

PS: Were there any tears in the Purolator synthetic oil filters?

I agree on the quality comment ... if people keep buying junk made by manufacturers, there is no reason for them to importer their quality.

No reported tears in the Purolator synthetic filters.
