If anyone were getting paid, I'd suspect the guy pushing the defective product. C6 has certainly earned a free lifetime supply of torn filters.

I know I'm an old man, but I'm a little confused. How can any sane person describe something that has an obvious defect as "high value." To me that's like calling a Yugo a "high performance" car. LOL!

Purolators were the darling of BITOG and did offer very high value for decades.

You would have to be understanding of their lapse in quality since you are a repeat Ford buyer.

And I do appreciate the filter offer.

Tears in Purolators have been going on for a few years with no negative results.

I have to admit I have only bought a Bosch or two since the tear problem became such a controversy.

But I'm not an "overreactionist."

But you have to follow the money boys.

And it's very clear what has happened here.

WM in my area sells Accel brand SF motor oil.

Someone else's area too.

Not all Accel brand oil is SF.

I was wonder if it'd be that brand. They have Accel non detergent 30 weight at my WM, but that's about it.

I found some API SA in my neighbors garage last week.. it was in a plastic quart.

Here's a pic of a PL 10241 that has been on my lawn mower for a year. It has a tear in it. Looks to be a mechanical issue when the make them.

Everyone has the right to react to things in life like THEY feel like reacting. You think everyone should see life and react and do like you ... what's that say? People see the info, they make their own decisions, and it's clear on what the majority have decided on the Purolator tearing issue.

It's very clear where you stand, and it's clear you will never change anyone's mind on how THEY feel about the issue.

That's different than the typical Purolator tear.

Is that the sound of another free PL14610 being dropped in the mail? It sounded a little off. I think it already has holes in it.

I like Motorcrafts. Seem like the best of both worlds. Just took one out of service, will post pics once I find something to cut it open with.
Maybe Walmart putting pressure on Purolator to cut cost is the reason for the quality problem.

They can say what they want a lot of people don't buy purolater anymore because of the quality issues and them not admitting the truth about the tears when all you do is have to cut open a filter and see for yourself. before all the problems i always preferred them but now we can't trust their filters. I hope their quality comes back because i don't like change and they forced us to change filter brands. I knew all the numbers of the filters and what engines they went on by heart after all the years i was using them. Now i have to look up some applications.

How does that factor into the PureOne model failures considering those aren't stocked on WM shelves?

Twenty of the fourty-four failures listed on this spreadsheet are PureOne models.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?...p=sharing#gid=0

PureOne = 20
Classic = 14
Bosch = 6
Motorcraft = 2

Whoops - 42 total failures noted. I'll break it into percentages to make up for my goof.

48% PureOne
33% Classic
14% Bosch
5% Motorcraft

crazyoildude - You're still using Motorcraft right? You're just shunning other filters manufactured by Purolator?

And those are the ones changing their oil in the WalMart parking lot WITHOUT a drain pan
