With all that is going on I thought I might start. This came from a Kohler motor with about 225 hrs. Warren 10w30 looks good to me .

Looks excellent! That is a very short filter I wonder if that helps protect the media.

As always thanks for cutting and posting!

Even the longest ones used to look that good in the P1 Line. Here's an FL-1A equivalent after a 6K OCI on a Jeep 4.0 from a couple of years ago:

That's a good example of why Puro was the brand of choice around here until very recently. Nice looking filter!

I believe the number on the dome end is F03C2502 and the media measured 2 3/16".this was on an engine that ran wide open all the time. With all the tears lately I`ve used wix for this round.

Made on 3-25-2011.

I have a couple questions 1st: I see where you got the 3 and 25 but how did you know the year? 2nd: was there a period of time(dates)when these filters with tears were made? I have a bunch on the shelf and other cars

Nobody has tried to associate a manufacturing time period with media tears seen that I know of.

Nothing wrong that P1, looks quite good. 10241 is the equivalent of the popular 3614. While not the largest filter, I wouldn't call it tiny either. Larger than the popular 14610 and it's shorty cousin 14612. I've been using the Wix/NG equivalent Napa Gold 1348, because I'm getting for
Thanks for the pics.

The 10241 is the smallest filter one of our vehicles use (the Chrysler) and it seems tiny to me especially since I run oversize filters a lot. I didn't realize the 14610 was even smaller, maybe that is part of the tearing issue, lots of flow/pressure in a small filter.

I wonder what the oil pressure for a kohler engine is verses an automotive engine. That filter looks good. With the recent finds of torn media , i have to wonder if this filter saw lower pressures than automotive engines.

BTW i saw the ocod in the background!

Thanks for the "decoding" I have 4 P1 filters, 3 PL24651 and 1 PL 14670. They all have E as the year. What year is E? Thanks,

Whimsey

The torn media issue was identified here in 2011--as far as anyone knows, the issue has not yet been addressed by Purolator. Hmmmm 3 years and counting
