I was trying to get info about the date codes for the putolator filters that had tears or other defects. I have many pure1 filters and 1 or 2 classics, all from 2013. I'm not really worried to be honest, a couple bad ones are to be expected just curious. I will be using them all, even though i could exchange a few and return a couple with receipt but wont be.

I dont know if there is an answer and if there is how accurate it is ... Best thing is to stay away from them There are other good filters out there that you dont have to worry about falling apart or tearing

Which part numbers do you have?

From what I've seen, the Purolators that tear media seem to be only the ones that use the metal crimp at the seam, not the ones with the glued seam.

It might be better for someone to make a list of the filter part numbers that have been reported torn instead of the date code.

IIRC, a few of the dates were around March of last year. That was the date on the one I bought in an oil change deal last February too.

Agreed, it seems like just a few part numbers have accounted for the lion's share of the tears. The 14610 maybe one of them?

I haven't noticed any so far but have you guys seen any 10111's? I have 3 classics and a Mann that is a black puro classic in the stash. I think I'm going to stick with Wix or Wix made from here on out. I haven't seen many problems with them, easier to trust them.

I should have open my 14006, now I'll never know

The 2 I have cut here have a glued seem. Both PL14670 and have bunch more & PL14610 & some others can't recall rite now. They are all made in '13, 1 jan. 3 aug, 2 oct 2 nov & 2 dec.

Yea I'm gonna use them all and it probably is part # related not date code, but was just looking for more info. I cut all my filters n I've never really seen a bad one other than a kind of hard combo valve on a proselect but that was okay too I bet. thanks
