This filter was pulled off our 06 Pathfinder. 80% highway driving. Looks like it did it's job but i'm not impress with the looks of it. I'm may switch to the Fram Xtended Guard like the Civic, which i've been very impress with.

It looks fine and it did its job. I would be curious about the Fram but I doubt it would be any better or any other brand name filter for that matter.

Used many PL14610's for longer miles/same time oci's in a Honda and Altima than this, and all have looked great. This is possibly the worst looking of the 14610/12 Puros and Puro varients that size I've seen posted here recently. Media looks fairly dark too. As said though, looks like it did it's job. But, since you're very impressed with the higher priced XG though, you should likely go with it.

Thanks for the pics.

To OP: What oil did you use?

The media seems a bit saturated to me. A nice coat of soot on the media.

What does the fill hole look like?

Don't like the large spaced pleats near the seam - I don't recall seeing this on previous PL14610s. Wonder if Purolator is reducing the number of pleats in some of their filters.

Silver02ex - could you please count the number of pleats, including the seam with the metal crimp. I want to see if the number of pleats is the same as previous PL14610s I've cut open.

Take a look at the very center of the first picture---is that a tear in the media, or a bad angle/reflection of the camera?

Probably a reflection off the oil. If there was a tear, it would be near the base of the pleats that are kind of bent over.

There was no tear. However, I did pulled a PureOne 25288 that had a tear in it. It's because of the faiedl P1 I had in the past and this filter, I think I will be heading to a different direction.

This XG has always showed a very consistant results. I'm not saying the P1 is a bad filter, however I've been having more and more problems with them the last 2-3 that were cut open. If you do a search you will see that other P1 14610 has shown great results in the past but not so much lately.

I'll post the results tomorrow

You mean the widened pleat that the OP specifically aimed, and shot the picture of and then said "looks like it did it's job".....? Did you mean that he overlooked and/or failed to mention a tear, when he said "looks like it did it's job"?.... In this case, because there is no tear.

As seen here previously, pics 'seem' to show things that the OP's either never note and/or specifically say aren't there. Because of camera angle and/or reflection pics seems to show things that aren't there.

try a bosch 3323 or an oem denso equivalent from rockauto. My gf's civic has the same size filter , and the bosch according to the specs has a higher filtration ( or finer micron filter rate, i forget ) rate than the p1 in that size.
