In the April 2006 Issue of Hot Rod there is an "Test and Tune " article about the "Pure Power" oil filter. It is a billet aluminum washable "uber filter" with large oil entry slots versus holes and which, according Hot Rod, is 90% more efficient at filtering particles 10 microns or smaller than "throw away" (their term) filters. They compared the Pure Power with a Purolator PURE ONE and you would have thought that the Pure One was little more than a toilet paper roll stuffed with cornhusks.

Has anyone heard of this product?

We have a BITOG member who is testing this product as we speak. As I understand it he did a before UOA and will do an after UOA. I agree it is a pricey unit, but the end result for me to form an opinion will be in the above test.

Filters like that are designed for race engines which wont have oil in them for very long anyway and just need something to catch the big stuff that might do a lot of immediate damage. This is a lot like the Canton filters, or the System 1.
