Do you think I grew up in a vacuum?

This would not be abnormal for an engine of that age

This engine, btw, received routine oil changes with dino every 4-5k miles. Now the miles are higher ..but since dino's are all that ...then the thing should still be as spotless as it ever was, right??

That engine is not out of a Jeep. Front wheel drive if you ask me. Or at least it is not the same v8 like the OP.

How many miles? What type of use? What motor in what vehicle?

Just posting a photo without details....

(and the engine you posted is more abnormal than normal IMO)
..and your experience and results are more typical than atypical?

Did I say it was from a jeep? It's just "an engine" ..maintained much like you maintain yours ..just under (probably) a different service profile. Nothing exceptional.

There are no amassed deposits there. Just a honey glaze that's got a little depth to it. Everything functions just fine.

It's Dan's (Fueltankerman) Escort with (iirc) bout 200k on it. While surely not "clean", there's nothing to really show any neglect there. He did a two bottle Auto-Rx experiment for me.

Doing "normal" things over a longer span of time ..tends to redefine just what "normal" means.

Good point, different vehicles may be harder on oils than others. I would say my Jeep's engine has it harder than most cars and most other SUVs for that matter
