Is a lower NOACK % from higher quality base stocks the main difference in PU &PP. I looked up the difference between gf-4 to gf-5 already. I ask because I bought a bunch of oil at the pepboys sale, n got there kind of late so all of ultra I got was SM but the PP was only couple months old.

The current version of PU is made with GTL (natural Gas To Liquid) base stocks. The SM version was not. One characteristic of GTL base stocks is low Noack volatility.

Current versions of PP also have natural gas base stocks and lower volatility; though still higher than PU they are still lower than any other readily-available mass-market oil. And of course you can easily tell which bottles of PP have the new formula because it says so on the label.

have/maintain. 06 Odyssey, change @ 7k, 07 sebring, twice yr, 10 liberty, twice yr, 06 Stratus, twice yr, 97 Cherokee, yearly. prob stick with dino/ other stash for most. have big stash but couldn't pass up deal. I took 4 of the ocod back to Walmart for store credit, I'm not fram hater at all, will use the others I have.
no offense but I'm aware of gtl, noack, etc just seemed curious that oil didn't appear much different between yhe api change.
I've used PU other times, but didn't see benefit over QSUD, PP, VSP, M1 or other syns on sale for the vehicles so haven't used in awhile.
guess I was looking for some info that doesn't matter or not known on here
