Is anyone aware of a good PS fluid or ATF with a good dose of seal swell. Currently using Valvoline synthetic PS fluid for top-ups and need something of greater strength. BTW: vehicle is a 89 Dodge Caravan 3L V6.

i cant say for sure but i heard that auto rx will help that, well if its not damaged of course. i seen it done on this site a couple of times but dont listen to me, just wait for replies =).

I've used Lucas Power Steering Stop leak on my fiancee's Chevy Lumina.......stopped the leak...never came back.

I'll vote for the Lucas. I used it and it worked when Synpower and Prestone(w/stopleak) failed. Then again, it would be best to just replace the seal or pump. But, Lucas is cheaper than a pump and alot easier.

I went thru two quarts of Red Line PSF just by sucking old out with a baster and refilling with RL. By the time I was done leaking had nearly stopped and my steering has improved to perfection

Would Neutra help stop the leaks?
Because my hoses are showing a bit of leaking but nothing major.

I've used seal swells effectively in automatic trans, but never tried in PS units. You might want to check the shaft and fluid. The PS was leaking on my Chevrolet LUV pickup and nothing worked. Apparently the previous owner (I took it in payment of a debt) got moisture in it that settled in the seal area, rusted the shaft and chewed the seal. Only a machine shop and a smaller seal solved it.

OooOOooo
Where can I get this Lucas Power Steering Stop Leak you speak of? And is it safe to use in a Honda power steering system? (87 Accord)

Mine leaks like nobody's business, although oddly, the resevoir will only leak to half empty, and then stay half empty indefinitely. So the power steering works, but I like the idea of stopping the leak.

Yes, 3-4ounces of neutra works. I've used it on several p/s with good results. I'd put some in my current p/s as it was starting to make noise, and it seems to have cleared that up as well. Plan on draining and replacing that fluid but like a lot of people, I've got to get a round t it and maybe cash it in.

be very careful with leaking ps fluid, I've had an engine fire directly because of this.

if you can't get the leak stopped at least wash down the engine to keep it from accumulating anywhere. better yet, fix it or replace the leaking system.

if you KNOW your ps fluid is leaking, do not drive it into your garage until its cooled down, better to lose your car than to lose your car and house.

Be careful Honda specifically states that you must use honda PSF - many can regrettably attest to this.
On the other hand, Bardahl makes a "honda" PSF that it says contains seal conditioners.
