ProMotive PH#2222 CUT OPEN, TORN!!

Good afternoon folks. This ProMotive oil filter #PH 2222, came off of a 2014 Malibu with the 2.5 4 cylinder with MaxLife blend 5w20 and this filter. Sticker showed it had just under 5,000 miles. If I read odometer correct mileage was 4,897. Not impressed at all.

I keep reading that the issues were fixed by end of 2014. Doesn't look like it's the case.
 
November 2014 Purolators have the problem.

If the filter was just a month newer, it may not have torn. I cut up a December 2014 Classic that stayed intact.

November 2014 just missed the cutoff. December 2014 and on should be safe. (date code F12F... or FxxG...)
 
Well Slacktide_Bitog; we'll see as I have a few of these Puro made filters to chop. My faith in "jobbers by or made by Purolator" is in the toilet now

Personally, I've really moved away from Purolator oil filters on the seven cars I maintain because of this particular issue.
