As long as the pistion isn't hitting the electrode, are projected tip spark plugs are benefical compared to regular plugs? I assume it leads to better efficiency having the spark closer to the piston?

This is for a Honda 200X three wheeler. Standard plug the D8EA and the projected tip the DPR8EA-9.

Yeah, I think the point is to just have the spark more exposed to the fuel/air mix. I would just buy the standard. Never know if you'll have clearance issues...

The kernal of flame starts between the electodes, and spreads everywhere from that point.

A pentroof 4 valve, maybe no so much difference.

A wedge head 2 valve, and the gains will be that much greater, as the kernal is starting that much closer to the centre of volume (and the hot exhaust valve).

In cars, extended tip plugs are the norm.
They have multiple benefits.
You have a particular case where clearance is an issue.
If an extended tip is made for your vehicle, I'd use it.

Oh....I'd say about 10 or 15 times. And with a high compression Weisco piston it hurts even more. I learned to turn the handlebars to the left before kicking. As far as the seat-of-my-pants says...no but theoretically wouldn't it produce a more effient burn?
