Aww man. My heat control knob went out around 55,000 miles on the Highlander. Took almost an hour to fix.

Of course, I'm four years further in. Fifteen minutes a year doesn't seem that bad.

As to the GM guys, well, quality has been improving all around. I wouln't have slowed down past a Hyudai booth at an auto show a decade ago. Or compare a Fusion to a Taurus from the mid 90's. Not a bad thing, not really a brand thing (at least for me).

1999 Buick LeSabre, 70k miles. Problems: lots. Lower intake gaskets caught in time, rust holes, fluky transmission behavior (fixed), alignment issues (working on), struts replaced 4 months ago, brake lines failing, fuel lines going, could use a new filler neck, etc. The engine's great, the rest of the car needs work.

Old-school GM for ya!

2002 Chevy 2500 HD 8.1 4x4: 94200 miles. owned since 64428 miles
_________________________________________________________________Problems in 20 months and 30000 miles:
Lets see- Clutch Master and Slave Cylinder, New Belts, all new fluids. Oh i did have a rusty tow hitch i had to WD-40 the other day- gooseneck hitch in bottom of bed, it happens.

2002 Ford Expedition:

Purchased in February, 2009. Mileage at time of purchase: 151,000Km

Necessary repairs: 2 coils (original), 1 tie-rod end (original), t-stat (original).

Maintenance: 1x upper control arm/ball-joint assembly (cracked boot, BJ still had no play), diff fluid change, tranny fluid change, T-case fluid change, PS flush.

Current mileage: 181,000Km.

30,000Km in 10 months.

2005 Ford Crown Victoria LX...Bought it with 20K miles...Was a x rental & lease...Was 1 year old at time of purchase...Now have 83K miles on it.

Zero repairs...Just regular Ford maintenance...Nothing else.

Our Toyota's have been good to us, no issues with 34,000 on one and the other with 99,500.

Just bought a 2009 Ranger, hope it does well!

Oh yeah forgot,

2000 Tacoma SR5 4x4 bought brand new for 23,000 and sold at 85,000 miles in 2007.

Problems = none

Not one dime spent on anything other than a couple tranny flushes and oil changes!

2000 Saturn SL with 108,000 miles = no problems except I replaced a tie rod end with a Moog one at 100,000 miles. No other repairs of any kind.

The Ranger is a great truck. Our company truck was an early 2000's model with the 4.0 and it got flogged daily by everyone from the secretary to the CEO and was still ticking at almost 200,000 when I left the job.

That's good to hear, every story i've heard is about someone beating up on the Rangers and they keep going :). I'm not too hard on my cars, not a grandma driver either though.

Ok, I'll play.

2009 Cobalt, burned-out parking light, replaced under warranty when I took the vehicle in for an oil change. Darn GM junk....

2002 Dodge Dakota, ball joints replaced under warranty. Nothing since. More examples of the garbage coming out of Detroit.

1999 Malibu, Dex-cool gasket issue, water pump went out last year and a window-regulator went out over the summer. I'm currently talking to GM to see if they'll buy it back under the lemon-law....

1994 Ford Ranger. Absolutely nothing broke during the time my Dad owned it, and nothing now. I guess I got the one good vehicle Ford made in 1994.

All in good fun, folks. Carry on.
