I also hope the next generation Tacoma will have a 4 cyl hybrid option. That would get them above 30 MPG most likely.

With the higher EPA 35 MPG standard coming, the automakers will stick a hybrid in every vehicle they make. what is an antihybrid vehicle man supposed to do!

Some pretty beginner Prius hating on this thread, you should be able to be more uninformed and illogical than that.

What is the logic behind being "antihybrid?" I thought just maybe people on a car oriented site would be different and more up to date. Looks like not. Next time on a train, likely it is electrically driven, with a hybrid system.

A number of posters on this site are extremely old-school, and are about as back-[insert profanity here]-ward as you can get.

1) It does not have a V8
2) It is not a truck
3) It cannot haul plywood
4) It is not a man's vehicle
5) It is not 4WD
6) It cannot go off road
7) It is not very very BIG
8) A 300lb adult cannot sit comfortably in it
9) It does not have a solid axle
10) It is not RWD
11) It is not build in America
12) My neighbor would laugh at me if I drive this thing

Did I say it does not have a V8?

I'm retired and pretty old school myself. I wouldn't buy the Prius now, just because it isn't made in USA. Like I said, I bought it just because it fit the needs and they made me a great deal 4 years ago, before the economy hit the fan. I am very happy with it though. Always 50-52 mpg tank average, or higher if I am determined about it. In traffic the mileage goes up, what's not to like about that? Forty years ago I liked to corner as fast as possible, etc, etc, now I corner slow trying to make my tires last longer(and they do.)

I don't go around hating other people and their choice of cars, except maybe the arrogant, over their skill, driving So'G that just about killed me and mine, but at least there is a reason for that.

The interesting thing about the link in the first post, it was about the 1st gen Prius in USA. I test drive that 1st gen in 2002 and didn't like that hybrid Echo. The current 3rd generation of Prius (2010+) is light years ahead and silky smooth to drive. Max acceleration is comparable to Corolla (with some MPG penalty of course).

If American people shed their irrational anti-hybrid bias, US could easily get energy independent soon instead of paying Arabs for oil. People should wave American flags less and vote with their valets more. Case in point, Prius is the best selling car in Japan for some time.

I know Prius is not for everyone and if one doesn't like Prius one can get a hybrid AWD SUV, and some hybrid cars are made in USA too.

Full disclosure: I'm a self proclaimed Prius lover since 2010 and here is my Prius review to prove it:

We liked the gas mileage of the '06 we had , but hated the fillups thanks to the bladder gas tank . Winter fills were a royal pain in the duff . The new tank is supposed to be better .

anyone watch the movie "the other guys" and what they called the prius.. it was Will Ferrell's ride throughout the whole movie.
