I would imagine that Amalie's own "premium" self named oils would fare as "badly" as WH.They meet SN and are semi synthetic too.Them boys in Florida will need to do a little reevaluation of their product.I remember when Consumer Reports slammed Kendall motor oil (owned at the time by Amalie then owner Whitco) in an all auto parts issue......Whitco tried to discredit the "amateur" testers at Consumers Union...supposibly getting the oil tester fired.Dont know what or who to believe in such matters...
The sample Mototech oil was bought at a Turkey Hill in PA.
Kroger has owned Turkey Hill for a while now, and also offers Mototech at Kroger locations, so I wonder whether it's a Kroger store brand?
The stuff does look pretty good in this VOA.
That Wolf's Head labeling thing is disappointing. I thought Amalie was above that. Putting a "DPF Approved" label on a 5w20 oil is bound to make people think it's OK to use in modern diesels, and I don't know of any diesels that are approved to run a 20-weight.
Yes it's good that PQIA has an advisory on the labelling issue for Wolf's Head 5W-20 PCMO, but that said I don't think the error is a big deal since a 20wt oil isn't spec'd for any diesel in NA.
IMO it's highly unlikely that a diesel owner would mistakenly choose the product as it's still the wrong grade.
