Post Your RV w/Tow Vehicle

Things are a bit different over here in Europe. We place a lot less weight on the back of the car and therefore the axles on our trailer tend to be more centre. It does mean that if the trailer is poorly loaded (too much weight in the rear) then you can end up with a pendulum effect and experience a 'snake'. Not happened to me yet though! I'm quite conscious about how the trailer is loaded. The advantage here is we can tow reasonable weights with far smaller vehicles. For example, you could buy a VW Golf over here with a 1.5TFSI engine and pull 1,800kgs (4000lbs).

This is our current setup. A 2000 Bailey Pageant Moselle towed by our 2022 Dacia Duster 4WD 1.5DCi. The caravan weighs ~1400kg (~3100lbs) fully loaded and I aim for a towball limit of 75kgs. We have a 60mph speed limit when towing on motorways in the UK and the Duster is more than capable of pulling it along in a reasonable calm and comfortable manner and even returning 30mpg+ despite a combined weight in excess of 3,000kgs (~6,600lbs).

2019 Ram with the 5.7, towing a Forest River "Salem" 171RBXL, think I'm down to 5000 pounds at this point all loaded up in the trailer. Kayak is a Necky rip 12.

Bonus shots of the river after a storm, and the butt of an inquisitive black bear checking out the neighbours vacated campsite.

The first time was enough in your post #12. No need to keep dramatizing your position. Post a photo or move along.
I towed all over Washington, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Wyoming. I had a 5800lbs 5th wheel then a 7600lbs 5th wheel. I did it with a 1989 GMC 1 Ton 454, 3 speed auto, 4.10s and a TBI. A whole 200 HP and something to tune of 380 ft/lbs. of torque. It did nothing fast but always got the job done. 45 MPH over the continental divide, still going around some of the old big diesel rigs. It was slower on some of the bigger hills not on the interstate but did just fine for the 5 years I towed with it. You don't need 400HP. It is nice. If you are set stuff up correctly and tow accordingly, you will not have an issue. Long story short, fantastic, I agree with you. Don't be the guy who says you need a 1 ton dually diesel to pull a pop up.
I present to you "Big Poo" Sometime around 2007. The 1989 1 ton.

2024 Silverado 2500HD 6.6l gas towing Sonic 231vrl. Truck is overkill for our camper, but our camper was just too big for the half ton I had when we purchased it (I was about 400lbs over payload fully loaded with trailer family and gear).
I do like the Sonic's a lot. I like the fiberglass roof and some of their layouts. Nice setup!

If we ever get rid of our Grey Wolf it will be for a Sonic most likely.

1994 Freightliner tractor and 2004 Keystone Montana 35ft 4 season. Took this the day I got the trailer in 2021. The trailer was bought to be a stepping stone until I can build a shop with living quarters and is doing great. I really like it. Been living in it full time since it was purchased.

Might travel with it down the road when the shop is done.

This is the correct way. I love it.

We pull a 2018 Forest River Shamrock 233s. It's 4960lbs dry. One slide and 3 queen size bed pop outs. It works well for our family of 5 and is small enough to get into the majority of parks. I use a Curt weight distribution/anti-sway set up, which has worked great thus far.
Camping is something that my kids absolutely love and we typically camp every 3-4 weeks. Thankfully we live in a part of the county that has so much outdoor opportunities and fantastic campgrounds.

I had a 05 Suburban, Awd, with the 5.3/ 4l60. While it was "rated" to pull this, the truck struggled. I currently pull it with a 2014 Silverado with the 5.3/ 6L80e. The truck feels a lot more planted, safe, and equipped to travel with the camper. I had the trans tuned at a local shop, AFM disabled in the ECM, and changed the trans thermostat. When pulling this camper in 90+ degree weather, the trans runs at about ~190 degrees...

Hey, @fantastic - I picked up a toy hauler today to go with the new truck. It's a 2019 KZ Sportsmen 270THLE. Should be a good little trailer for us. (y)

400 mile round trip to pick it up. Truck now has 700 miles on it and pulled the trailer home like a champ.
