Post your latest small engine oil change

Today the Wheel Horse got some attention. This is fairly new to me, I got it cheap and neglected. I threw some Traveler 15-40 in with a Napa 1348 US Mann Hummel filter after I repaired the engine wiring harness to make it run. Today after about 5 hours or so of total run time it got 1.75 qts of RK 30 and a China Napa 1348. Did the hydro last week, Old Napa 1515 off, US Napa 1410 back on with 4 qts of RK full syn 10-30. Rebuilt the deck with all new spindles and pulleys. It seems to be a nice machine despite its looks. 20 hp Onan. 854 hours showing.

I did the spring maintenance on my FIL John Deere D130 today. Used the JD kit which has 2 quarts of their 10w40, air filter, oil filter, fuel filter and plugs (old ones looked great but when in Rome…). After 50-75 hours the oil looked dark this machine gets run pretty hard so no surprise. Greased the spindles and wheels as well. Also cleaned the carb on his Honda push mower to cure the surging.

Those are awesome tractors with the Onan engine. I even saw one with a loader on it. Basically indestructible with basic maintenance.

John Deere S120 with the 22 HP Briggs V-Twin

Did the Easy Change whatever they call it. Plan on doing the conversion to a regular filter when the warranty is over. Also sucked out 1.5 quarts via the dipstick tube. Put in John Deere Turf Gard 10w-30.

Neighbor's hu675awd mower. Replaced the cruise control cable, the original hook broke somehow. The carb was gunked, cleaned. Reglued the top label. Changed the oil, it now runs great and fires up on the first pull. Waiting on a new air filter and will return it.

Out: Unknown oil, midnight black but not swirly.
In: Rotella T4 15w40

This air filter has seen war.

2008 Craftsman Riding mower. Added an hour meter, greased front axles, sprayed anything that moved with Fluid Film.

Out: 1 quart 20W50 Penzoil Conventional, .6 quarts 5w30 Total Quartz Long Life. XG3614 filter
In: 1.6 quarts Rotella T4 15W40, FE3614 filter.

I may cut open the XG3614, after seeing a recent cut open it was a horror show. The blue dangle kept the mess to a minimum. I think the engine likes the frothy Rotella as my ear meter thinks its running a little smoother.

Subaru EX190V, about 20 hours on it:
Out - Motorcraft 10W-30 HDEO
In - O’Reilly 5W-30

Carb was swapped out for Chinesium, ironically enough, the OE one was also. Too bad I can’t swap a Keihin from a Honda GCV160/190 on it.

2006 Craftsman YS4500 42inch rider mower with 22hp Intek engine.

Out: Briggs & Stratton 30w
In: Again with 2 quarts of Briggs & Stratton 30w
Also replaced the #492932S Briggs & Stratton oil filter as well.

Had to replace the clutch cable that engages the blades on the mower deck. I wore it out.

2014 Honda Recon 250cc

out= Amsoil ATV 10w40
in=Valvoline Synthetic 10w40 ATV

changed to Amsoil two years ago, and noticed a less smooth clutch engagement, and harder shifting. In other words it was harder to get into gear, changed back to Valvoline, and smoothed it back out.

How many hours are on it ? The 22 H.P. B&S ( Twin - Cylinder ) takes a beating . Mow close to 3+1/2 acres with slopes up to 30 degrees . It's 11 years old with 500+ hours . Bought it at LOWES .
