Did up the John Dere 1028e. Out was conventional PYB 5w30. In went Federated Co-op 0w30 full group 4. Runs like a top.
I have a 2-year old Honda self propelled mower and except for the first fill of Honda oil have used an approximate 0w30 mash-up of fresh Mobil 1 oil (0w-40, 0w-30, 0w-20). My M1 0w30 mix is getting down to about a quart now. I have a bunch of Delvac 15w40 from my diesel car days and was hoping to 50/50 mix the 0w30 mix with some 15w40 Delvac. Grass cutting season is here and I need to change the oil before my first cut coming up soon. I can't see that this would be a problem for the Honda but thought I'd pass it by you experts first. The 0w30 did make for easy cold fall day starts though.
I'll update this with the oil change once I get it done.
