Three new filters for the Jeep Wrangler 3.6l V-6 because I plan to change much more frequently than I normally would because of metal chips and hair on the filter on the first oil change since owning it.

Hengst E721H D271 $3.21 USA
FVP G0010 CHINA $2.74 (I doubt I'll ever use this one)
Wix WL10010XP $7.64

Hengst looks like a very high quality MADE IN USA filter

Just wondering, does the Hengst center cage spin withing the filter? That was part of the MOPAR MO-349 filter change when it went to the AB and later AC revision that it spins within the outer filter media shell to minimize twisting when installed. Most aftermarket filters incorporate that but some do not. The reason I ask is I bought the same Hengst filter on Amazon and it does not spin.

It doesn't. I noticed that. The filter should spin freely in both the upper end that attaches to the plastic cartridge part and the small o-ring should spin freely in the lower portion of the filter housing as it is installed. Is that not the case?

The nub it locks into on the cap side is the bypass valve. While it can move somewhat under friction, it is suppose to remain static with the housing side tip o-ring is suppose to spin as it is screwed down with the outside media of the cage somewhat floating and not rotating a as much if at all as the cap is screwed down.

I first noticed this on standard WIX cartridge filters and now this Hengst. Not saying to not use them but they would not be my preferred Pentastar cartridge filter. Point is moot for me though as I went to a Baxter Performance filter adapter and use regular can filter.

Early june- 2 gallons Rotella T5 15w40 engine oil. Has Jaso MA/Ma2 wet clutch ratings. Bought two use on two older Honda quads.

June- 1 gallon rotella 15w40 T4 engine oil for one quad along with dot 3/4 brake fluid to bleed the front brakes and adjust the shoes.

1 quart mobil one 75w90 limited slip gear oil for front axle of honda rancher. Honda states it needs hypoid gear oil but I've read into it a ton and found that most any reputable GL5 gear oil is 100%fine In these quads, also would be a hypoid gear oil in most cases.

1 Hiflo HF-112 (basically the same as the K&N for half the price.)

1 oem Honda oil filter of the same size. Only $5.99 and comes in a bag. Honestly found I can pour the oil into the filter and bag to presoak the filter, which was a highly recommended practice for these engines. With the price and quality I'll be buying more!

Need to buy some oem toyota filters as soon as I can! I moved and used to live next to 3 dealers, now I'm far away.

Can’t remember what engine your Dakota had. My 3.9L hasn’t had any oil after I got a Mopar pvc. It has expensive but no problems in so long almost forgot about it.

Got the OEM one today, just can’t get the old valve out. Definitely the original one. Bet it’s bad as some oil wetness around it too. Ohh and mine is the 3.9 v-6

Walmart it is!

$7.98 a piece or so. I got too used to living within 3 toyota dealers and buying 4 at a time for $5. When I bought the Tacoma when we moved from a different state i ran into a Toyota & honda joint dealership. The one oil filter was $15. Yikes. So, walmart was convienet this time around. I will make sure to hit the toyota dealer way north of here if I can and purchase more than one at a time.
