Post your latest oil change

Couple of interesting phrases from this page:

“Oil lipstick”
“Anal hotdog”
LOL my cars don't get the "anal Hotdog453 3000 mile cycle" but I'm happy to say that my Odyssey, like the one described above, has an oil lipstick! Fortunately, it has transmission lipstick, too! :ROFLMAO:

Hi all, first time posting. Serviced my mother's new car on Labor Day.

2024 Mazda Cx-5 Select with the Skyactiv-G engine.
Now has 6,288 miles on the ODO. Last service was in March at 3,668 mi. My mother only uses it to go around town, so no highway trips.
I plan to run an OCI of 6mo/5k, and I track intervals on the Carfax app.

Out: whatever bulk oil was from the dealer & Mazda PE01-14-302B-MV (Mazda Value Products, see below)

In: Castrol "Zelda" Gold bottle 0W-20 from WallyWorld & a PG4612EX from RA.

Might change up to 5W-30, but Castrol should be plenty good going forward.

Great first post! Welcome!

Just did an early change on my 2018 Prius Prime. Oil was only in the sump for 5 months. However I did 2 round trips through the Canadian Rockies. Totalling about 4900KM just for those two trips. Thought I’d worked the Valvoline Restore and Protect hard enough. Also if the farmers almanac is to be believed, the weather is supposed to turn bad early this year so thought I’d better get it done while dry out.

Sent the oil to OA for a report. Also changed the engine air filter.

Out 4.2L of Valvoline Restore and Protect 0-20 and an Amsoil EA15K09

In 4.2L of Amsoil SS 0W-20 and another Amsoil EA15k09

Trip B was the total milelage/time this oil was in service. Looks like in total 4771 KM was the engine run time. Rest was EV.

2004 Lexus ES330 @ 255,266 miles
5336 m. OCI over 6 months
Out:
Mobil EP Synthetic 5w30 and a Purolator Boss filter
In:
Pennzoil UP Synthetic 5w30 and a Toyota D1 filter

Found a rear strut leaking oil. Needs to be replaced before the onset of cold winter. Greased all 4 brake calipers' slide pins.

2010 Chevy Silverado 1500 with 4.8 liter engine

Out: Pennzoil Platinum Ultra 5w30 with 5,000 miles
In: Pennzoil Platinum Ultra 5w30.

Removed Fram Ultra 10060 oil filter. It was in for two OCIs.

Ran Motomaster OE Plus 10060 filter (similar to Champ XL)

The Fram filter still had a functioning drain back valve after two OCIs of 5,000 miles each. Plenty of oil came out from the galleries.

The truck now has 200,000 miles.

2025 Honda Pilot EX-L
Mileage: 8,742
OCI: 5 months, 4,657 miles
Out: Castrol Edge 5w-20, original Honda oil filter
In: Duramax 0w-20 full synthetic, Premium Guard PG4612 filter

This was a very inexpensive oil change. 84 cents for the PG filter from a case sold on Amazon and shipped direct from Premium Guard and $1.97 a quart for the Duramax oil from a sale at www.govets.com on 6-gallon boxes. So less than $12 total. I'm almost embarrassed.

Three of the plugs are easy. It’s the one that needs the correct combination of socket, extension, and universal. You’ll need to remove the air box, battery, and battery tray.

I appreciate you highlighting the specific challenges, especially with the plug that requires the correct combination. I'll make sure to take my time with that one. Thanks again for the helpful hints. Looks like I’ll be getting to know my car better than I thought.
