Thanks! I visited a friend in Urbana, Illinois, where they have the same hazard. The surrounding rural roads thereabouts are laid out in a rigid square grid, with right-angle+ intersections all one mile apart. Unfortunately, the county skimps on stop signs. As a result, many of those intersection reportedly have no stop sign or stop light. To make matters worse, that's corn country, so in the summer, you can not see what's coming on the perpendicular road until you're almost in the intersection.
