'00 toyota tundra 4.7l 200K M1 15w50 every 7,500 miles uses no oil - lots of highway trailer towing miles

'00 nissan maxima SE 3.0 80K M1 10w30 every 3-4K oil looks nasty and thin everytime - car rarely does trips over 2 miles. Wife drives it like a maniac.

new '05 tundra 4.7 V8 20K so far every 6K with M1 10w30

'04 Honda CBR1000RR oil change every 1K w/ whatever I feel like that month.

I would like to go farther - I just can't.

Mobil 1 Truck&Suv 5W40 with a PureOne filter. OCI is 3000 miles or about twice a year depending on how much I drive it. The car is a 96 LT4 Vette that has over 500hp. Most of the miles put on it are very, very hard miles as the car is mostly drag raced and in general, beat to snot. When it's not being driven, it just sits in the garage, so my situation is severe service.

OCI 10,000 or when the OLM comes on..one oil change so far, and at 10,000 the OLM did not come on. I changed it anyway

1995 Honda Prelude 2.2L VTEC with 104k miles.

Mobil 1 10w30 changed out every 5k. Car driven fairly hard with constant 5 - 6k RPM shifts with regular bursts into the 7 - 8k range. 50/50 mix of hwy and city driving.

Burns about 1/2 qt every 5k miles from VTEC engagement and using the engine for braking assist. The one rare OCI where I only used VTEC sporadically there was zero consumption.

When I used to use Pennz coventional 10w30 (zero problems with that oil btw) I'd burn a half to a full quart every 3k because of my lead foot and the VTEC feature so I'm happy with the M1.

Thinking about leaping over to the Pennz Plat though.

I used it in many different vehicles successfully, always remembering that it was advertised initially as a 25,000 mile or once a year oil change oil. So that is what I always did for more than 20 years, with no problems and no noticeable engine wear. I usually put 18,000 to 20,000 miles a year on my vehicles; on my 1986 Thunderbird I put 140,000 miles in 7 years, changing the M1 every January. It was still as quiet as new when I traded it.

I notice that most of the above M1 users are changing using OCI's more appropriate for dino oils. At the intervals being mentioned, dino will make any engine last over 200,000 miles. I am now retired, driving about 6000 miles a year, and changing oil twice a year using dino. It would be a waste to use M1 for this low mileage. What I wonder is why they say this new M1 is only good for 15,000 miles?

As it was pointed out by the GM engineer, synthetic oil does not make an oil more suitable for extended drain. I think they just load them up with more additives and make it more alkline or whatever to get the TBN up there. Yes the oil will look pretty good, but you still have carbon getting built up and blowby from combustion. Time will tell if 10-20K intervals will fare well (at least for me).

OCI @4100

Since I use my car to deliver food, I try to limit my OCI at 4500 Maximum. I just changed oil last Thursday. After changing it, I felt very smooth when stepping on gas.
My driving ratio would be 80/20 City/Highway (Percent).

P.S. Racing with Cabs and time, I hope the engine would be ok.
