Castrol Syntec 0w-30. When you pick up the bottle and look at the label on the back, it should say "Made in Germany;" hence, "German" Castrol.

It used to be green (years ago). Now it's gold.

Like most good oils, it's very good in the right application.

What were you thinking of using it for?

Thinking of using it in my Saturn it uses oil but i figure its better for it to have good oil that'll keep it really clean than it is to let it have normal oil and not help the trouble. It uses about a quart every 900 miles but I just did a major piston soak so it'll probably be a little better

Almost everyone gets the "GC fever" for a little while. It is a good lube but the formula has changed since the days of the green stuff. I would only buy it if my engine called for a xxw30 and sheared most others and it was on sale. AZ has it on sale this month with a Fram TG. You can use the filter for target practice or something.

Do you know why it uses oil? Is it the piston rings, or something else? Have you checked your PCV system, for example?

For an oil burner that doesn't otherwise need a super-tough oil, I'd try Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0w-30, Mobil 1 ESP Formula 5w30, Castrol Edge 5w30, or Pennzoil Ultra 5w30 before I'd try GC. GC has a heavier dose of additives for use in high-performance applications with extended drain intervals; I don't think that'll help you, and it might even be counterproductive since those additives can leave deposits over time. I suspect that all you really need is an oil made from good base stocks and a "clean" additive package, so that it retains its viscosity in your piston rings and burns as cleanly as possible when it does burn. Just my thoughts.

Yes it burns oil because its a Saturn and have a poor designed piston oil control rings. I want an oil that doesn't shear easily because saturns are hard on oil and I wanted something to keep my engine very clean

I've used GC (green) in a sludger Toyota for almost ten years. UOAs on the forum.
It's thick, and doesn't shear. That is its best quality. It is not energy conserving, but does get an A3 rating.
The comments about running it in certain engines and buying it on sale are very good pieces of advice. My stash of green ($1 on closeout in 2004) is dwindling and when finished I'll probably go with PP/PU or whatever good syn is on sale.
Ten years ago,(IMHO) GC was a standout shelf purchase. Today there are many equal choices, some much cheaper.
For your Saturn, I'd think about Smokefan's suggestion and use Rotella.

Im sure any rotella would be fine. Whatever is cheapest maybe T5. I surely wouldn't run any high dollor lubricant in a burner though. Save your money for a new car

I've used GC in an old SL2 I had, but my consumption wasn't that bad at a quart about every 2000-2500 miles. I also made sure I ran it for at least 7500 miles, since I was topping off.

There is a thread over at Saturnfans by a "Bill Murray" that claims his consumption went down after using Mobil 1 0W-40. But I think you'd be better off running a high mileage oil like Valvoline MaxLife (a syn blend) or Mobil 1 HM 10W-30 or 10W-40, if you really want a synthetic if you're burning a qt. about every 1000 miles, to see if it helps. Those oils are thicker at temp and may resist burning while doing some cleaning...
