Please deliver us from global warming.....

Seattle drivers have a forward progress rule. Not going to give up one inch of hill gained. So they just leave their cars parked in the middle of the road. Especially on hills.

Same 'rule' here. The 'big' snow storm here in Jan '03 left Nashville paralyzed. It was amazing to see how many cars parked on hills for a day or two after the storm.

2006 was the warmest year on record I believe. The "theory" (don't get excited, it's just a theory) says that climate extremes are a result of Global Warming. More frequent El Nino's etc.

I live on a steep hill. I sometimes setup a chair on my roof and have a cold one while watching people with bald tires try to go up hill in a foot of snow. THAT is entertainment. People think bouncing off the rev limiter in 5th gear is the ticket. Egg under the gas pedal is the way to go baby!

I used to watch people do that when I lived in Iowa (2004) when we had the ice storms. It is amusing to see someone spin their tires at max rpm as they try to get up a icey hill. Slow is the way to do it - you want your tires to grip. Either way, I managed to ditch my car on a glassy intersection when trying to turn too fast. The wrecker/tow truck that came to pick me up went skidding down the road 400+ ft past my car because he couldn't stop.

As for global warming... What melted all the ice during the ice age millions of millions of years ago? I don't think we are anywhere near understanding the weather quite as well as we'd like to think. Either way, 2006 was hot and I hate heat - I hate having to drive with the AC on.

Yep ..I'm waiting for our fender bender bout. It doesn't snow enough here for anyone to learn how to drive in it. Ehh...maybe they wouldn't learn anyway

Just started on my 2nd delivery of heating oil. If it lasts like the 1st one ..I'm good until near the end of Feb. We even turned up the thermostat. Shorts and Tee-shirts for us

I got warm shoveling 8" off the drive last night. Felt good. Real quiet. Sorta made it all worth it. Almost.

Woke up this AM and 6" on my shovel job. So much for feelings.

Drive sucked until I came to roads blocked by abandoned vehicles. These same yokels cry when they have to pay $150 for the service of moving their fine contrivances.

9:30 A.M. and it's 30C already.

Tomatoes are ripening 3 weeks early.

Diverted the washing machine onto the back grass on Wednesday to give it some moisture. Clay pot watering my veges and fruit trees (will have nearly 100 kiwi fruit, and 40 oranges).

Yup; sucks when your car only has 110 hp to begin with. Feels like a parachute opened behind my Corolla when the A/C kicks on.

This is where I'm really impressed with our '03 Elantra..I expected the same as from your Corolla with the A/C on, but the effct of A/C is almost none on that car...only very rarely have I felt its effect on the car's power...and that's going uphill with a/c on.

I had no problem getting to Bellevue at 530Am down 405. Just one little slippage, easily corrected. I saw several others less fortunate, into the median barrier, into ditches. The neighborhoods were worse, but if people will stop trying to drive too fast....
Made it to Everett and back this afternoon without incident.
I had a great time walking around last night during and after the snow. Beautiful and quiet, except the occasional sound of spinning tires and over-revving engines.
How it will go tomorrow remains to be seen.
Hmm. Captain Obvious strikes again.

Yeh I'm real unhappy about global warming.

Lets see December sales are up over 20% and Jan is looking like one of the best in the last 18 years I've been in business. My gas bill was 1/2 of a normal December.
So lets see more customers came through the door, those same customers spent more money in my business, and my utility bills are less than normal for this time of year.
So what are my feelings on the issue? Lets party

I'm just going to enjoy this warmer than average weather while it lasts. It's 45F here right now, and it was 45F here last night too, even at 10pm!

But the long range forecast calls for it going down to -10F next Wednesday and only getting up to a high of 12F that day.

Hopefully it's just a short bit of frigid temps and then we'll get back to this nice stuff. They are also calling for some snow on Sunday and Monday too, it'll be the first appearance of the white stuff here this season.

When I was in college we would line up on this one hill and watch the drivers try to get over the top. We had cards and would hold them up to announce the score when a driver would really screw it up. Ten was the top score for each judge and zero the lowest. You'd be surprised at how much fun this was with just a few beers. We even put up a sign to warn people, but, alas, they never paid any attention. Some drivers got it so wrong that judges could be seen with beer comming out their nose, they were laughing so hard. We were at least good citizens. We always helped to dig them out and send them on their way, and we always kept the road clear. So many drivers and so little time to score them all.

If this trend continues ..long term .. a few of us will have to rethink our OCIs.

..well, you've got to have your priorities straight ...
