Planning a tip to little Sahara in Oklahoma this April.
I am taking a '04 Yamaha WR450 dirt bike and a '06 Yamaha Wolverine 450 4x4 quad. I haven't spent much time riding in the sand, at least not the dunes. Other than a paddle tire for the bike what else should I consider for mods to either machine for the sand? I should note that the WR has the exhaust insert removed and carb is rejeted and throttle stop replaced with the YZ one, and grey wire removed. Dirt rider magazine walked me through those mods. The WR's power is plenty for the task at hand, but the Wolverine is bone stock. I wish it had more zip. Is there a way to get more power out of this quad with similar mods like the ones I did to the bike? And lastly is the sand an issue to any part of these machines that I should protect or be ready to "deal with"? Any ideas guys?
