Pilot refuses to fly after passenger smoked marijuana in lavatory

Golly, if he wanted to get high at altitude, he could have at least did a an edible. Now, he’s paying the price. TSA doesn’t care about nicotine or THC vapes making it past security(now the airport cops, yes) - he could have taken a hit in the smoking area of SFO, and there is one at that terminal. I personally think vaping is stupidly. I have a live and let live attitude about weed, but it’s an expensive and obnoxious habit. Yes, there are stereotypical stoners but also tradesmen love their vices… until they light up a drug test if there’s an accident at the jobsite.

Do people who smoke in the lav also get placed on a no-fly list or at the least get any pre-clearance revoked and barred?

That’s why so many do pre employment, safety sensitive, and random testing … most don’t want a pilot nor a 300MT crane operator who’s not subject to planned/unplanned testing - and now why LEO’s have moved towards impaired is impaired when driving …
