We are looking for a pickup topper and in our area we can get A.R.E., Leer, SnugTop, Raider and a few others. Does anyone have a topper on their truck and if so what brand and have you had any problems with it?

I have been doing some reading and it seams like Leer has the most complaints. People really like the SnugTop but say the are higher priced.

I have an ARE LOPRO on a 2006 Tundra and really like it. I had to adjust the latch a couple of times when I first bought it. It looks great and protects my gear.

I have a Gemtop Gemsport and I am very happy with it. It's seven years old, and looks like new.

Gemtops are steel, and are available with a wide variety of options. I have a '76 Chevy C20, and Gemtop was the only manufacturer who was willing to build a topper for me that fit the contours of my truck's cab. They also matched my truck's paint exactly.

I have an ARE, it's worked well enough, but notice that the rear hatch gets very dirty due to the poor airflow over it as it's fairly vertical. Poor airflow means drag, so if I'd get another I'd look for one with more of a slope on the rear.

Had a LEER and paint faded no matter how hard I tried to prevent it. I now have had an A. R. E. for 7 years and she looks like I bought it yesterday. Better hardware too. I don't know why LEER has their name on 4 spots of their product as this doesn't make for a clean look.

I have had two ARE toppers.
The latest is the mid rise MX.
I like the framless windows with a framed rear door better.
No leaks with either.A gasket came out of the frame on the previous frame window one.
A co worker complains about his leaky LEER.
Doesn't know where its leaking at,so I can't say its the LEER.
Look for used to save 1/2 the price of new.
Just you cant find one when you want it.
What kind of truck do you have?

I have a GMC Sierra Denali. It is the crew cab with a 78.7" box. I think I am going to get the A.R.E. Z series.
