Picked up another Walther last night.

some of you may recall I purchased a Walther PPS in 9mm a couple weeks ago and I loved it. Great shooting little gun.

Last night I ran across a lightly used Walther PPQ M2 in .40 S&W for a steal of a deal. only around 200 rounds through it. came with 3 mags, box, papers, backstraps and everything. I have yet to shoot it, but it feels fantastic in the hand.

I picked up 200 rounds of 165gr FMJFN and some 165gr PDX1 for it as well. Im excited to go out and shoot it this week. This will be my first experience with the .40 S&W.


Anyone else here own a PPQ?

I want a Walther PPQ in 9mm with a paddle magazine release. The PPQ has a high bore axis. The PPQ might not be the best pistol for shooting .40 SW rounds if your recoil sensitive.

I would have definitely preferred the paddle magazine release like my PPS has. For the price I paid I couldn't pass it up. The button definitely makes it feel less German.

I'm not overly recoil sensitive, I do expect it to be snappy. The bore axis is definitely high compared to my Ruger SR9c, and is higher than my PPS as well.

I took The PPQ, PPS, and SR9c out today and did some shooting.

The PPQ shoots like a champ. .40 wasn't much recoil at all IMO. Reading the Internet leads you to believe it is brutal, not the case at all. I had no trouble shooting good groups and staying on target with follow up shots. Pistol is super accurate. I had to adjust wind-age some and reading through the manual it said to group from 25 yards and adjust accordingly. I did and I was super surprised at how well it grouped from 25 yards standing. My PPS and SR9c do not group even half as good at those distances. They of course have shorter barrels, and im sure that is a huge factor.

I will say I can follow up quicker with the PPS in 9mm, but the .40 is not a problem for me to shoot accurately. I ran another 100 rounds through the PPS and man I love the way that gun shoots. It is insanely accurate from 15 yards in.

I will say these walthers have phenomenal triggers! The reset is so short and the breaks are so clean.

Obviously a short pull is good for you. My Shield has a short travel and I hate it. One of the reasons I am going with Glock. I love the trigger action. I will say that I haven't fired a Walther.

+1 the first pull travel isn't super short, but the reset is super short and the breaks are clean. I'm a huge fan. I'm glad I purchased the PPQ and the PPS.

I guess, who takes off the back straps anyway? put on the one you like and leave it. Check for clear like any other firearm and disassemble like normal. it is really a non-issue.

Well if you are a true Walther man, the button release is not making it less German. They were slapping them on Walthers a long time before they came up with the paddle release in the 1990s.
