Why? Because this is BITOG and no one has better things to do.

Conditions: Want to run oil with a PureOne filter for 1 year, which will be somewhere between 8-12k miles, depending on employment opportunities. Why?(Why not?) Lost parking garage and have to work on my car in the street and/or alley. Conditions less than ideal due to weather/traffic/etc.

Vehicle: In signature.
OCI history: 4-7k OCI the entire life of vehicle with name brand 5w30. Uses half a quart at most during that time.
Driving conditions: Very strange. May sit for 1-2 weeks without being started then get driven 30-100 miles mixed city/highway in an afternoon. Will be making 1 to 3 1,500 mile road trips over the next year. Standard Chicago temps 95F summers through -5F winters. Car is parked outside year round.

OIL CHOICES:
Pennzoil Platinum 5w30
Pennzoil Ultra 5w30
Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5w30
Rotella T6 5w40
Other(but the above oils are my preferences, I like SOPUS products)

I agree, I like SPOUS products. I use either QSUD or QSGB (conventional). QSUD is a great oil as it adds alot of HP and slightly improves my fuel economy. Plus, its cheap!

The only oil in that group with real long drain cred is the T6.
If you must do 12K drains on one of the oils you've mentioned, I think it would be your best bet.
The P1 should be no problem.

PP 5-30.

Gotta run, got better things to do.

PU would be another choice if cost is not an issue

Well, it looks like Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 won this contest. Now to find the best sale...

Non-turbo Subarus are fairly easy on oil. Any of the oils you mentioned should do fine, but I would also suggest looking at M1 5w30 EP, or M1 0w-30. I've currently got M1 0w30 in my Subaru and it runs fine, starts easily even in the middle of winter, and never has done anything to make me question it.

+2....M1 EP oils shoud do the trick for your specs....

Older Subie's like a 40 weight, my '04 is really smooth and quiet on M1 0w-40. Plus, 0w-40 has all the long life spec's, it'll easily do 10k oci. AutoZone and AAP have a sale going on now, 5 qts M1 and M1 filter for 30 bucks and 32 bucks respectively.

As I will be due for an oil change by the end of summer it looks like I'll be either be using PP 5w30 or T6 5w40 with my final AutoRx maintenance dose.

Will run for close to a year, at least until spring unless I have a reason to drain the oil for anything.

Realize that cars are different but there is a UOA using PP listed with almost 12K miles and a TBN still at 2.3. Seems like you made a good choice.
