I haven't bought a whole bunch of Carhartt stuff, but I've been really disappointed in their work clothes. I think my most recent purchases were a t-shirt, a pair of double-front jeans, and a pair of work jeans. The t-shirt lasted about as long as a Hanes t-shirt would last, but cost more. The ordinary work jeans are shorter than my other work jeans of the same size. Not quite high-waters, but almost.

Now for the double-knee jeans. I bought one pair of Carhartt double-front jeans, and two pairs of Riggs (by Wrangler) double-front jeans at about the same time. The Carhartts faded considerably faster, and last week the crotch ripped out. The 2 pair of Riggs jeans are still going strong, and cost about $10 less a pair, $45 vs. $35 at an online store that I've discovered.

So I just ordered two more pairs of the Riggs Jeans. Their double-front jeans are very heavy duty, and comfortable. I also decided to try a pair of Dickies double-knee jeans, which were even cheaper, we'll see how they work out.

I'm pretty much done with Carhartt.

I absolutely love the Carhartt canvas jacket I own. For $100 beyond warm, durable, tough and semi waterproof.

Problem I had with Carhartts were the crotches ripping out premature too. Rest of pant was perfectly fine. The Duluth Trading Post fire pants I'm wearing now have held up great (double crotch.

My Dickies pants have worked out very well. I like them much better than Carhartt.

I think Carhartt has gotten too big for their britches! (Pun intended).

When it comes to Carhartt thier jackets are thier best products.

I tried some of their work shirts and I didn't feel they where worth the premium.

I normally just go to the rack (in my store) with bright neon shirts. They are nice and thick last awhile and $5 a piece. Not always the best looking things but when your working with people who are dead beat tired I like the bright colors don't have to worry as much of someone not seeing me and smacking me with a pipe.

This.

I have a Carhartt jacket that is 10 years old. Still looks decent and has been holding up pretty well. I've tried a few of their pants and for the money I wouldn't do it again.

I've got 30-40 sets of bibs and jeans from car hart. I've never blown out the crotch, ever, however I buy loose since I'm always bent over nailing or marking out something.
I did notice the insulated bibs I bought last year are only insulated in the legs which I found odd.
I've got jackets too. The only time I've ever trashed one of those was battery acid.
They lose their warms before they wear out for me.

I have two carhartt jackets that are 10 years old ... and they are starting to show their age! The stuff has nearly doubled in price since I bought them 10 years ago - my replacement probably won't be carhartt!

I need to get a new pair of boots - went to a carhartt store and they were like $250 for something made in China

+1 on the Carhartt jackets!

Just bought another Carhartt Arctic Jacket today for this winter work season. Tag said -- "made in Mexico!!" I have about 15 of there long sleeve pocket t-shirts that I luv to wear to work and around the house. They are super comfortable & durable to my standards with washing/drying & holding up in general. My other Carhartt Arctic Jacket grew legs when I went to put it on this morning. How does that work when you a single guy living alone?

Well, I need a warm jacket about 2 days a year, so while I'm sure their jackets are nice, it doesn't help me much. Unfortunately, I need pants every day.

This is my Carhartt jacket I described. I am actually out working in it right now. In Dover, NJ. It is snowing right now.

This jacket gets me so warm when working that I actually need to take it off after a bried period of time!

Not sure the model, or color. Cost me $120. Size XL. ThIs only comes out in the winter, and is an amazing coat.

Their T-shirts are top notch as well. Although their sizing is off.

carhart coats, and bibs have been good to me.

i have used them for well over 20 years out in the field in the midwest cold weather and snow. did i mention blowing snow and blizzard conditions.

there may be better gear out there, but for my money and ease of getting them at at my local hardware store in a rural area, it is what i have used.

they are extremely durable and keep the wind and cold out. a good pair of pack boots are also essential( i have a 22 year old pair of red wings and they are critical for being out in severe weather conditions) especially the older i get.

I have recently got interested in the Duluth brand from the commercials on tv, but have not purchased any for my review-but someday i will try them out.
