Never, not once in 235k miles.

I don't drive the 99 Caravan as much as I used to. Perhaps 3,000/yr now. The XG8a on it is about 4.3 years /16,000 miles old. I still have another old XG8a to put on it next fall. Should last until the Dodge turns to dust.

i had initially used an XG16 sized filter on the accords but after further evaluation i had room for XG8a’s. my truck has infinite room and i had been running a very large filter meant for a hydraulic system but lacked an ADBV and the efficiency of the XG8a.

this has never happen to my Toy 07 1GRFE.

I have a 1977 F250 super cab with a 460, as well as a ‘74 Lincoln Mark IV, which I’ll be selling soon. I also had a ‘79 Bronco (400) and an ‘84 F-150 (302). I also sometimes used that size filter on the 2004 Ram 1500 (4.7) that I had. I have a bunch of Champion (the spark plug company) filters I bought for $1 each, as well as two swap-meet Baldwins bought for $1. I also have three Frams from the early 90’s that belonged to my grandfather. Then there’s my stash of the AutoXtra filters made by Wix around 2010. Never had a problem with any of them, or the genuine Motorcrafts I’ve used in the past, but I’m on the fence about using the 35-year-old Frams.

My '76 E-100 (300cid 6) used one as did Dear Old Dad's '66 Oldsmobile 425.

I stumbled upon a Hastings 115A (IIRC) for '77 Celica (22R). I believe it's the same size.
The nut on the Hastings can -and my observation of clearer oil- made me a convert.

Oil filters have sure gotten smaller with time (ha-ha).

1. correct, a Derale filter base on amazon
2. i still haven’t established a base line. every time i change one the filters are still super clean.

probably change at the 2 year mark on my car and see what i see.

just gathering for Oct/Nov … already the wrong thread on Magna Fine … will order an $8 nipple and try that …
