Here's from an article I just read:

Perspective:
There were 39 combat related killings in Iraq during the month of January..... In the fair city of Detroit there were 35 murders in the month of January. That's just one American City, about as deadly as the entire war torn country of Iraq.
When some claim President Bush shouldn't have started this war, state the following: FDR...led us into World War II. Germany never attacked us. Japan did. From 1941 to 1945, 450,000 lives were lost, an average of 112,500 per year. Truman...finished that war and started one in Korea, North Korea never attacked us. From 1950 to 1953, 55,000 lives were lost, an average of 18,334 per year. John F. Kennedy...started the Vietnam conflict in 1962. Vietnam never attacked us. Johnson...turned Vietnam into a quagmire. From 1965 to 1975, 58,000 lives were lost, an average of 5,800 per year. Clinton...went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent, Bosnia never attacked us. He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three times by Sudan and did nothing. Osama has attacked us on multiple occasions. In the two years since terrorists attacked us President Bush has liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled al-Qaida, put nuclear inspectors in Libya, Iran and North Korea without firing a shot, and captured a terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people. The Democrats are complaining about how long the war is taking, but...It took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno to take the Branch Davidian compound. That was a 51-day operation. We've been looking for evidence of chemical weapons in Iraq for less time than it took Hillary Clinton to find the Rose Law Firm billing records. It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the Marines to destroy the Medina Republican Guard than it took Ted Kennedy to call the police after his Oldsmobile sank at Chappaquiddick. It took less time to take Iraq than it took to count the votes in Florida!!!!

you know what I think is funny?

we doubted Kerry's war record... when he actually volunteered to serve in our countries military in a time of war.

and bush manages to find a way to chicken out...

now why did we think he was the best defender of the country again?

also the low numbers of death/injuries are b/c war is a numbers game. all you have to do is reclassify certain injuries and fatalities. gussie them up a little. make people think "it's not that bad". war is bad, profiteering is bad, people who don't put contracts out for bid = bad.

taking over a country to control a seat on OPEC is pretty bad. esp. if that decision (to go to war) wasn't well thought out.

"39 combat related killings vs 35 murders"...Forgot to add the opposition, and collaterol damage in this one.

"Put nuke inspectors in Lybia, Iran and NK"...Thanks to the Europeans on at least the first two.

"Liberated two countries"...one is run by warlords, and is producing 6 times as much opium as it was pre WOT. The other ?

"Captured a terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people"...100,000 deaths that can be attributed to 18 months of war, versus 300,000 in a decade and a half. 30,000 direct civilian deaths.

Branch Davidians...they weren't an enemy, and what was done to those people was an attrocity.

Looking for WMD...no need to look, as we knew where they were. Mr. Powell showed them to us on our home T.V.

"It took less time to take Iraq than it took to count the votes in Florida!!!!" I think they finished the count, I don't think that we've taken Iraq.

Time to clean up our own sty.

Oh, boy this is a big one.

Did the Davidians not fail to comply with US laws, and violently oppose federal attempts to access their "compound"?

Granted, Reno and others hosed that operation...but even in America you can't set up an armed compound and say "keep out" to the Federal government.

What's next - police can't search your house or vehicle (within proper authority of course)? The Coast Guard / Customs can't search vessels for WMD, drugs, or illegal migrants?

I feel bad for the kids...paying for their parents' poor judgement. They should have sued instead of resisted; by now they'd have a shiny new compound courtesy of the taxpayers.

I agree Al.

Seotaji, The reason Bush is a better leader is because he isn't a flaming liberal, that wouldn't turn against his own country. He also wouldn't go visit the enemy and have tea with them. Face it, Kerry lost because he couldn't lead a mailman to a mailbox.

Shannow,

Wow The europeeings really saved the world! How do they plan on inspecting Iran? They going to take Iran's word for it.
