I know that Walmart has manufacturerers build products to their specifications. I wonder if they do the same thing with the major brand motor oils. Is this why they can sell oils at a cheaper price?
Does anyone have any information about this?

Thanks

It's not completely out of the question, but I seriously doubt it. Even as big and powerful as Walmart is, I doubt the SOPUS and other oil execs would let Walmart bully them into spending all the money and time it would take to produce a "Walmart grade" of PYB, or QS, whether it be synthetic or conventional. I think the cost would be far too great, in more ways than one.

It's a very interesting theory though. The oil companies probably already lose a small percentage of profit just by selling their respective oils at Walmart to begin with.

Did we ask this question to pennzoil or mobil Q&A? I think i recall this answered by one of these.

walmart's day to day price is still more than the cost per qt during the oil change specials. i've often wondered how they can sell so cheap during a special? are they loosing money then or reaming us the rest of the time? i have my hunch

They might have influence with their SuperTech brands but not the other oils. The prices are cheaper because they buy in such huge quantities and pass the savings on.

All the majors have that on their 5-quart bottles. Says something about recycling your used oil at Walmart.

They DO NOT make/blend a special product for Walmart.
