See this at HD on clearance. Unfortunately the PP is not available at my local HD. Is the SL version any good? What base group? Good add pack? Is it worth $2.75 / quart? I have also seen this kicking around at a few other places I am sure it won't be long before the big discounts can be had. I searched for some info on this and was not able to come up with a whole lot. Thanks for the help.

Also to andswer Bigsmoke's question it's primary group III. I am assuming that your talking about the stuff in the handle bottle. If it's with Pennzane it's PAO.

Yes thats the stuff I am talking about. I already have a 100 + quarts in the stash. But when it comes to a good oil at a cheap price I can not contain myself. Is it worth cleaning the HD shelf out?

Depends on the application and situlation. If your vehicals seem to like the HD stuff and you have an good stash of HD stuff no. If you own a honda or toyota no. But if you have an GM small block I would keep me HD stash.

When its said and done Pennzoil 100% synthetic is a excellent oil and at $2.75 a qt and you dont have the rebate hassle it is well worth the price.

Keep searching the Home Depots, here in No. Va, most of them have PP full syn (not the old GrpIII stuff, although I'm sure that's great oil too, for the money) for 2.60/qt. Just picked up 24 Qts

They also have Quaker State and Pennzoil in Dino SL for 1.09, and High Mileage 10W30 Pennzoil SL for 1.58. The Pennzoil High Mileage SL I'm going to buy more of, the car is nice and smooth on it, and as I found out on the road this morning, there's no change in MPG over the Havoline 5W20 I just dropped out of it. SL should have a pretty good additive-package too, with more ZDDP than SM grades.

If you catch them with their network down, you can get it free with no rebates..

Dave- why do you say no if you have a Toyota or Honda?

Also saw on the other forum that people are finding PP at HD with another 20% off making it 2.08 a quart...I'd just like to find a HD that has any oil besides John Deere!

Wait, so if it's the w/ Pennzane stuff it's PAO??? Primarily or a small percentage (ie just the Pennzane part)?

I have 34 bottles of this in SJ spec.

I thought the 'Pennzane' stuff was group III.
We need to hear from Johnny to get the straight scoop on this.

It is. I found the answer in another thread. However, Mola spoke very highly of this stuff a few years back. The Pennzane itself is synth, but......

Doubt if any is still out there. The handle-bottle Pennzoil Syn, I bought a dozen quarts in 10W30 SL/GF-3, "full synthetic". Group three I presume. Not Pennzane. Meanwhile, should hold up for 5-7500 OCI easily.

Meanwhile, the "new" Pennzoil Platinum was Group 3 all along. Crooks. Good thing it was danged cheap.

It was a PAO basestock that pennzoil maufactured for NASA to use in space for its wide tempature spread. The big knock that I heard about this stuff was that it was not devoloped for automotive purposes but that was quite a few years ago. The person's who said that might of been talking out the side of thier neck. This was cira 2000.
