If you can't find Gold, why not? Do a 50/50 mix and call it a day if your into Semi Syn oils.

I have it in my 14 Tundra 5.7 now. I will try & remember to get some to test when changed. This Tundra has had one previous run of PZ Gold, a couple of Havoline Pro D/S runs, the rest are TGMO & Mobil 1. Truck has 57k miles now.

Problem is you don't know an oil would pass all the more stringent dexos1 tests (compared to less-tough SN) if it hasn't actually passed all the dexos1 tests. (An oil is certified when it passes all the tests as specified.) When you see all the dexos1 tests, you realize how much better those oils are, so I suggest you look into that. https://www.aftonchemical.com/Lists/Brochure/Attachments/40/Specification_Handbook.pdf

Thanks for the hand book link.

And 901Memphis, good to know how much synthetic is in the PGold. Sounds like a good blend.

Tom... are you still out there?

Yes I am still here but was away on my honeymoon. Didn't have a lot of spare time!

PQIA purchases oils from retail shelves on a unbiased basis. The intent is to cover as many brands as possible, and there are a lot more smaller brands out there than major brands. Their mission is to serve consumers by determining if the oil in the bottle is consistent with the labeled claims. The mission is not to compare degrees of performance or quality among brands, nor to provide free VOAs to BITOGers. That said, the reports are public and you are free to enjoy the results and interpret them as you will.

PQIA frequently receives requests to test a specific oil, but such requests cannot be accommodated as this would constitute targeting. Over time most oils will be tested.

Note: I am an unpaid advisor to PQIA and my posts represent my opinions and positions, and I do not speak for PQIA.
