I have been seeing Peak Motor Oil in more and more stores. I was wondering if anyone on BISTOG has used this oil? I know that Peak is made by Oil World Products, but not much else.
Just curious.

Peak is marketed by Old World, but made by Warren...the former supplier of Wal Mart Super Tech oil.And you are paying Danica Patrick for her glossy print ads in trade magazines for Peak...

Old World is behind the SplitFire spark plug too (which lost its forked ground electrode years back).

Funny you ask...

Today I did an oil change on my Civic using 5w20 Peak Syn and engine is purring like a kitten. AAP had the 5w20 on clearance for $1.95 and I bought a ton of it.

My friends V8 Tundra has had a diet of M1 EP and Citgo synblends; Last week I put in Peak 5w30 ($9.99 / 5.1qt) and she wondered what I had used because the motor seemed smoother and she is very "auto aware" of such things.

I'm using it for an AutoRX clean and rinse.

Very interesting. I did the same thing when the AAP stores had them on clearance up here in Orlando.

Still don't understand why they only had 5w20 on clearance. They still sell the other grades.

I just changed the oil in my 06' Odyssey with Peak Synthetic. Could be just my imagination, but the engine does seem quieter to me. I previously had Havoline conventional in the Odyssey.

I think "Peak Oil" is a funny brand name for oil.

That said, Peak Oil is just fine (the brand that is, not the phenomenon) for non-European engines. They can be used to the full OLM suggestions for any car that doesn't require synthetic.

Peak Synthetic meets dexos standards

It is often on sale at a good price too.

I had Peak oil couple years ago from Pep Boys, the oil seems thinner than others of the same grade, I used it in LS400 and S2000 both engines seems quieter with Peak oil.

Peak has an add pack which is very high in boron. It has been my observation boron heavy oil tends to make engines run quietly.

Maybe it's not my imagination after all.

I have run Peak conventional in 5w30 in my old Altima, and 10w30 in my Cherokee. I was very satisfied with the performance. My Cherokee did see a bump in fuel economy.

I noticed that the PEAK kept the engine quieter also.
I too purchaced PEAK from PB's and really liked it. Now, I am seeing PEAK in more stores even BigLot's Closeout Store($3.00/qt)

I haven't bought anymore PEAK since that time as the price has climbed higher and other name brands can be had with a filter at similar prices. But, I would buy it again if my stash were low and the price was tempting

fordman65,

I admit I've seen this oil at my local PB just after they dropped another brand that I was just getting use to. Perhaps this oil isn't so bad after all.
