I'm doing some work on my Frontier today. Change transmission oil, rotate tires and replace PCV valve.

However, I can't find the PCV valve.

I have a factory service manual. I can locate it on the vacuum diagram, but I can't find it on the engine.

Anyone familiar with these have any idea?

Find an actual thing on the engine and the same on diagram. Then trace the route and see if can find valve along the way, may be in a valve cover or a large hose/adaptor.

Tried that. On the diagram it is a hose between the crankcase and throttle body, but I can locate no such hose on the engine.

Is the diagram a generic to that engine and not vehicle specific? Another thought, valve should be on top of engine, less likely the sides. May have to remove air hose, covers, etc. for a full view and to rule out the valve is not present. Vlave can be a fixed orifice type and not a removeable thing. If can get a new valve you can look for places to hide a thing that size and shape.

You really don't want to go through the trouble of replacing it on that engine unless you are pretty sure it is bad. It is behind the alternator(which must be removed to get to it) screwed into an oil/air separator unit. Most Nissan dealerships won't even change it unless you are getting the alternator replaced.

Thanks for the help. I saw that separator behind the alternator. It looked somewhat accessible when I had the front tire off. I'll look again tomorrow.

I haven't been having any problems, but at 94k miles I thought it might be a good idea to change.

Anyway,thanks again.
