I have never had any problems with my Jeep not even a hiccup. This morning I put it in reverse and started to back out, about three feet later she died out/stalled. What could be wrong?

You should probably provide a bit more info.

Exact year / model / engine
Manual or automatic?

Could potentially be a few different things..

Any check engine light or anything unusual?

Like I said she runs fine. Obviously it has fuel/spark, starts every time and I made it to the store this morning.

Run techron at full dosage through the next 2-3 tanks of gas. See if that helps. Check for a dirty MAF sensor and air filter. Load test your battery.

If it continues try new spark plugs and a complete tune up including cleaning the throttle body. Then hit the freeway for an Italian tune up.

Not quite....it needs oxygen too. Vacum leak? air filter ok?

^ +1 I suspect a vacuum leak as well. When it warms up other sensors take over and mitigate the problem.

One of those weird things?

My Cherokee sputtered to death last night in the grocery store parking lot, would just cough and run on a few cylinders.

Went in, did my shopping, came back out and it was still running [censored]. Waited 5 minutes and it's run perfect ever since.

Start with cleaning the throttle body. It's cheap and easy to do and can prevent the issue you described.

Faux your problem is not engine related but actually transmission related. In the 45rfe or 545rfe trans there is a seperate oil cooler return filter and a lack of flow through this filter is what causes the stall you mention when put into reverse. My Durango does it maybe 1 out of 150 starts. Its not a huge deal , perhaps a trans pan drop with both filter changes and ATF+4 is a good idea . I wouldnt worry about it too much , it happens with the early model 4.7/45fre combos.

But my point is still valid. If the car dies or struggles, one or both of those are not happening correctly.
