Well I decided to go with a 10w30 oil based on some replies on a previous post and wanting to try Amsoil I ordered a case of 10w30. I didn't realize Amsoil had different lines and they gave me a case of the XL line in 10w30. Should I run it or send it back ?. I see the upgraded 10w30 version has a bit better specs. I'm using this oil on car that will basically be a garage queen , run in warm weather months only (no winters), weekends only, perhaps 5,000 miles a year. At this rate it should go 6 months between oil changes, guessing ?. Any recommendations whether to use the XL version or the upgraded version of Amsoil. Please don't reply to use other brands of oil, I am just questioning the different Amsoil lines. thanks very much.

The XL line is an excellent oil and API certified. I would use it with confidence, but if you are looking to go longer than 7500 miles or for better cold flow properties than the XL can offer then exchange it.

Depending on where you are located in Ontario you can go to their Warehouse in Mississauga and exchange it on the spot. They are great there.

PM me if you want the location.

Well, they are both good oils. The XL that you received is a Group III synthetic and the full synthetic is a PAO based product. If you did not pay for the PAO synthetic (in others words, there was not a shipping mistake), use the XL that you received. It will do the 6 month, 5K (that's miles) without a problem.

What vehicle are you running it in? I assume by your username its an SRT-4. Is it modded? XL is a good grp III synthetic, but if you have a modded SRT and run it "hard" on the weekends

then I would think about exchanging it for the ATM 10w30 or even the SSO 0W-30... IMHO

exactly what they said. especially given the fact your car is a garage queen and you dont plan on extended oci's - use the XL and enjoy!

Yes I paid the XL price level, so that is fair. I might like the cold weather properties of the PAO version though.

Sorry, this is for a 2002 Honda S2000 which I just purchased used with 55,000 miles on it. I also own an 08 Caliber SRT4 (hence the name) but this post is not related to that vehicle.

Thanks for the quick replies that answers a lot of the questions that I had on this product.

I might go for a PAO based fluid in the S2000. That's a very nice car and I think it deserves the best.

I would use Amsoil's SSO 0w30 in that engine.

thanks Steviec, I'll have to check out the specs on that viscosity, since most of the 0 ratings came out after this vehicle was manufactured and not listed in the owner's manual.

hey its gregester from the caliber forums....i just switched from sso 0-30 to amsoil euro 5-40, very pleased with the results and is recommended for our car by amsoil.

Hey Gregster , I think the 5w-40 is a great match for the srt4 engine, much better than the 0-30 you were running. For long term longevity I think the Amsoil 5w-40 will work well on the Caliber. Surprisingly the same viscosity is an option on the s2000 motor as well, but I will probably stick to 10w30 on it for now.
