Ordered a 1L ecoboost fiesta and stumbled on BITOG

welcome! the whatever-20 oils are all about MPG's not protection. using pennzoil Platinum with GTL is a good off the shelf oil. i would use the 10-30 grade, but don't tell! its very low Noack should help keep valves cleaner. with my girlfriends 2.5L D.I. malibu i tried the Dexos 5-20 spec oil for one change after dropping the factory fill at 1,000 miles, by 5,000 it took 2 qts, i then switched to Amsoil 10-30 signature series a group IV-V synthetic + have not added oil since. the PP is a group III "synthetic" mineral oil + is a good bang for the buck. if your using any by 5,000 you could switch to a better Group IV oil if necessary

Although i agree that PP 10W30 is a great oil, that sounds like a vehicle issue, not oil.
